Anyway, the red lines show the orbits of the dozens of small moons of Jupiter which move retrograde, orbits generally considered to be diagnostic of capture. These entered the narrow sweet spot between falling into Jupiter and being chucked out of the Solar System by Jupiter.

As Jupiter attracts debris, it grows. As it grows the attractive force on earth increases pulling it further from the sun and the destructive forces of global cooling.
