I just watched "Jaws" for the first time

I know. Big Deal. Who cares? Why post a vanity about it? I don't know.

Jaws came out when I was five years old. I just watched it for the first time. I had heard that the special effects weren't that great. So I never bothered watching it. It was actually pretty decent.

I don't know about Jaws 2 - 4. Should I bother?

Did you know that Spielberg was worried Jaws would be a big failure?

Thought JAWS was a great movie...it goes downhill after that though...maybe watch JAWS II, but beyond that, don’t waste your time.

>>> Great old movies everyone should see:

You might consider adding to that list Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion.

One of my all time favourites. It came out when I was 8. Got to see it in the theatre. It made me nervous around any water for a long time—and I live in Colorado! The sequels aren’t worth your time. The first one was the best because it was made by Spielberg.

Totally agree! I think the last movie I saw in a theater was the original Star Wars, when it was first released.

Can’t top that! I have not been tempted to visit a movie theater since.

Do you make them watch Psycho before staying in a Motel too? lol

After Spielberg finished filming the exhausting and much troubled production of Jaws, and Lucas on the also troubled Star Wars, they and their respective studios expected that both movies would be commercial failures. The two friends then met on vacation in Hawaii to plan a last shot together at Hollywood success -- and came up with the idea for Raiders of the the Lost Ark. Rarely has sheer movie making talent been so apparent or so strongly vindicated.

“Once Upon a Time in America” is another good one. At least I thought so.

You should try ‘Gone With the Wind’ on a big screen.

I might start that tradition after I see the movie.

I do break out "National Lampoon's Vacation" before every road trip.

"I’m a Gen Xer and I have never watch any of the Stars Wars movies."

I've never seen E.T. I was 13 when it came out and everybody said, "You have to go see it!"

I showed them ;-)

I was 16 when the movie came out and went to see it just before heading to the Southern Phillipines.

The only way/reason I went into the ocean was because that part of the Island had a coral barrior reef around it.

No big fishys. But allot of lil on incher fish that enjoyed swimming in/out of my bikini.

I really enjoyed the original Jaws, but was disappointed in all the sequels. If you'd like something that has reasonably good production value, and is based on the actual historical events that later inspired Peter Benchley to write Jaws you may want to find a copy of this...

...it's a "docu-drama" made by the Discovery Channel about the Matawan Creek shark attacks in 1916.

“I invented Post-Its.”

How about:
The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)
Blast From the Past (1999)
Overboard (1987)
Deceived (1991)
HouseSitter (1992)
Marnie (1964)
The Music Man (1962)
