Obama: Re-election rests on stimulus (Flashback - 2/2/2009)

President Barack Obama acknowledged Monday that the fate of his re-election four years from now likely rests on the success of the proposed $825 billion stimulus package.

“A year from now, I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress. But there’s still going to be some pain out there,” Obama predicted during an interview on NBC’s “Today Show.”

“If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

In acknowledging that his political fortune hinges on the state of the economy, Obama urged the country to be patient in waiting for the stimulus to take effect.

“I do have confidence that we’re going to be able to get it right. But it’s not going to be overnight,” he said. “There are no silver bullets to this. The fact of the matter is that we are suffering from a massive hangover from a binge of risk-taking.”

Obama urged the country to be patient in waiting for the stimulus to take effect.

Well, the roads in my town are nicely paved thanks to all the "free" money pumped in. Now all the unemployed can travel to the unemployment office in smooth comfort. Thanks, Washington, for putting us first!

It took Ronald Reagan about eighteen months to start turning the economy around that he inherited.

Obama’s time is up and he has failed miserably.

And he and his administration will continue to fail as long as they stay their current course.

That is why you see democrats running not walking to distance themselves from Obama and company. And that is why political ads by republicans linking any democrat running for office to Obama and his policies are having an effect!

. . . the proposed $825 billion stimulus package. “A year from now, I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress. But there’s still going to be some pain out there,” Obama predicted . . .

$825B is a whole lot more pain than we needed to experience, and the fact that we are still worse off than the worst predicted without the "stimulus" is directly attributable to the fear that decent Americans feel when they see an irresponsible regime wasting our children's future earnings on pork to pay off their biggest donors.

Obama blames the disaster on risk taking?

LMAO.. it was because there was no risk in making hundreds of billions of(government backed)bad loans that caused the meltdown

That’s why Journolists in the corrupt MSM are are not saying or doing much to help Obama, because they know how bad things are and that they’re not getting any better. If this were a Republican administration the corrupt MSM would be screaming at such a feverish pitch blaming the Administration and talking about abject human misery — story after story, night after night. It would be wall-to-wall doom and gloom and blame.

But this is Obama, and the corrupt MSM, although not directly helping, are being silent about how bad things are. This means that while they have lost confidence in Obama they would never overtly turn on him.

oh, I think obama will have it done in less than 3 years. Destroying a country from within is a snap.
