Here's an old photo I found while doing some historical research for myself.
Its George Custer with his father on the left. He was hosting a reunion of soldiers who fought in the battle of Frenchtown (The battle of the River Raisin) something like 60 years prior to the photo being taken in Monroe Michigan.
One of the little known facts about Custer was the fact that he was a big supporter of veterans and veteran's causes.

What is the date of this photo? (I’d hazard a guess about 1880?) The old timers here appear to mostly have lost their teeth (and no dentures)...something that you would never see today. Custer’s father, on the other hand, appears quite hale and hardy (money talked, even then).
