What is the date of this photo? (I’d hazard a guess about 1880?) The old timers here appear to mostly have lost their teeth (and no dentures)...something that you would never see today. Custer’s father, on the other hand, appears quite hale and hardy (money talked, even then).

Without diving back into the internet I only know the photo was taken prior to the battle of the little bighorn.

The battle of Frenchtown was part of the war of 1812.

That’s why when anyone tells me that they would love to have lived in the (pick any time period prior to 1940) I have just one word for them - dentistry.
