ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A website connected to al Qaeda's military arm in Pakistan has sprung up on the Internet in the past month. The website, called Al Qaeda Brigade 313, at www.aqbrigade313.com, was registered on June 2, 2010, and became active in early July.
The site has 86 registered users and five administrators, according to a report at the Open Source Center that was obtained by The Long War Journal. The website contains a forum and a blog, and posts links to Taliban propaganda, including a statement by failed Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad.
Several authorities, including US intelligence officials and an expert on terrorist websites, all of whom wish to remain anonymous, said that the Al Qaeda Brigade 313 website appears to be legitimate and may be directly associated with al Qaeda.
The Brigade 313 website's landing page has the words "Al Qaeda Brigade 313" in the center, while text describing Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Jundallah, and the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan occupies the four corners of the page.
Once inside the Al Qaeda Brigade 313, a banner appears with images of slain al Qaeda leaders Mustafa Abu Yazid and Abu Laith al Libi on the left, and a previously unreleased image of Ilyas Kashmiri on the far right [see banner above]. Yazid was al Qaeda's leader in the Khorasan, which includes Pakistan and Afghanistan, before he was killed in a US Predator strike in North Waziristan in May 2010. Al Libi was the leader of Brigade 055, another al Qaeda military formation based in Afghanistan, before he was killed in a Predator airstrike in North Waziristan in January 2008.
Brigade 313 is al Qaeda's military organization in Pakistan, and is made up of Taliban and allied jihadist groups. Members of Laskhar-e-Jhangvi, Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Jundallah (the Karachi-based, al Qaeda-linked group), and several other Pakistani terror groups are known to have merged with al Qaeda in Pakistan, and the group operates under the name of Brigade 313. This group is interlinked with Pakistan's Taliban and also recruits senior members of Pakistan's military and intelligence services, a senior US intelligence official told The Long War Journal."

Top al Qaeda leader linked to 5 Americans on trial in Pakistan
By BILL ROGGIO
April 17, 2010 4:42 PM
Pakistani prosecutors claim that five Americans currently on trial for attempting to join al Qaeda were in contact with a top leader of the terror group.
The five Americans are said to have made contact with Qari Saifullah Akhtar, the leader of the radical Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami and the commander of al Qaedas Brigade 313. Prosecutors presented evidence, including phone calls, emails, and other documents that linked Akhtar and the five would-be terrorists, according to Dawn.
Akhtar recruited the five Americans after watching their videos posted on YouTube, according to Pakistani police officials. Akhtar was able to obtain emails through the YouTube postings and encouraged the men to travel to Pakistan to join the jihad.
The five American Muslim men were detained in the city of Sargodha in Punjab province in December 2009 after a family member discovered they were missing and contacted the FBI. The five Americans have been identified as Umar Farooq, Waqar Hussain, Rami Zamzam, Ahmad Abdullah Mini, and Amman Hassan Yammer.

“313”? What’s that? The Detroit/Dearborn connection?
This would probably replace their older 9/11 front found at green green brokaw.
Hmm.
Do believe we've been carpet bombing the wrong targets.

United States Targets Terrorist Organization Operating in India and Pakistan
In Joint Terrorism Actions, Treasury, State Designate Harakat-ul Jihad Islami
And Its Senior Leader Mohammad Ilyas Kashmiri
WASHINGTON In conjunction with the U.S. Department of States designation today of Harakat-ul Jihad Islami (HUJI) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, the U.S. Department of the Treasury designated HUJIs commander, Mohammad Ilyas Kashmiri, for supporting acts of terrorism and for acting for or on behalf of HUJI. Todays action against Kashmiri was taken pursuant to Executive Order 13224, which freezes any assets Kashmiri has under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibits U.S. persons from engaging in any transactions with him. The United Nations also took similar actions against HUJI and Mohammad Ilyas Kashmiri today.
As commander of HUJI, Kashmiri provides support to al-Qaida operations, including logistical support for al-Qaidas terrorist attacks. Kashmiri has supported attacks against Pakistani government personnel and facilities, including the 2009 attack against the offices of the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Pakistani police in Lahore, Pakistan that killed 23 people and left hundreds injured. He directed the October 2008 assassination of the former commander of the Pakistani Special Services Group, General Amir Faisal Alvi, in retaliation for his role in the fight against militants in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. He also led an al-Qaida-linked cell in planning for the assassination of a Pakistani Army general a plan that was eventually abandoned due to al-Qaidas strategic considerations.
Mohammad Ilyas Kashmiri is at the core of HUJIs efforts to plan and carry out attacks against U.S. forces and our allies. He is responsible for creating a cadre of militants to act on behalf of HUJI and al-Qaida, said Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Stuart Levey. In acting together, the United States and United Nations are today taking another important step in combating the threat that al-Qaida and its affiliated organizations pose to innocent people around the world.
Since 2001, Kashmiri has led HUJI training camps that specialized in terrorist operations, military tactics, and cross-border operations, including a militant training center in Miram Shah, North Waziristan in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. In January 2009, a federal grand jury in the Northern District of Illinois indicted Kashmiri for terrorism-related offenses in connection with a terrorist attack against the Jyllands-Posten newspaper in Denmark.
HUJIs area of operation extends throughout South Asia, with its terrorist operations focused primarily in India and Pakistan. HUJIs relationship with al-Qaida flourished after the Talibans rise in Afghanistan. It has provided fighters for the Taliban in Afghanistan and training of HUJI members in al-Qaida training camps. HUJI has carried out a number of terrorist attacks. In March 2006, HUJI was responsible for the suicide bombing of the U.S. Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, which killed four people and injured 48 others. HUJI is also responsible for terrorist attacks in India including the May 2007 Hyderabad mosque attack, which killed 16 and injured 40, and the March 2007 Varanasi attack, which killed 25 and injured 100.

BANNER CAPTION: Banner for the Al Qaeda 313 Brigade website/forum. Pictured, from left to right, are top al Qaeda leaders Mustafa Abu Yazid, Abu Yahya al Libi, and Ilyas Kashmiri.
SNIPPET: Kashmiri has organized multiple attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Kashmiri has supported attacks against Pakistani government personnel and facilities, including the 2009 attack against the offices of the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Pakistani police in Lahore, Pakistan that killed 23 people and left hundreds injured, Treasury stated. He directed the October 2008 assassination of the former commander of the Pakistani Special Services Group, General Amir Faisal Alvi, in retaliation for his role in the fight against militants in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. He also led an al Qaeda-linked cell in planning for the assassination of a Pakistani Army general a plan that was eventually abandoned due to al Qaedas strategic considerations.
He has also attempted to execute attacks in the US and in Denmark, and was indicted by the US in 2009. Although not stated by Treasury, Kashmiri is also believed to be involved in the November 2009 terror assault on the Indian city of Mumbai, in collaboration with the Lashkar-e-Taiba. The three-day-long siege shut down the city and resulted in more than 170 people killed.
Kashmiri is closely allied with the Pakistani Taliban, including the dangerous Haqqani Network. His training camp in Miramshah is hosted in a region administered by Siraj Haqqani, a top Taliban and al Qaeda leader.
SNIPPET: Although not stated in the Treasury press release, Kashmiri is also the commander of al Qaedas Brigade 313 and the Lashkar al Zil military formation. A website purportedly linked to Kashmiris Brigade 313 appeared on the Internet over the past two months.
Treasury alludes to the relationship with al Qaeda, stating that Mohammad Ilyas Kashmiri is at the core of HUJIs efforts to plan and carry out attacks against US forces and our allies. He is responsible for creating a cadre of militants to act on behalf of HUJI and al Qaeda.
"He has also attempted to execute attacks in the US and in Denmark, and was indicted by the US in 2009."

Interpol notice against 2 Pak Army majors in 26/11 case
NEW DELHI: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has secured an Interpol Red Corner Notice against five accused persons, including two serving Pakistani Army majors, for their alleged role in the Mumbai terror strike of 2008.
The Interpol issued the Red Corner Notice after securing a non-bailable warrant from the court Additional Sessions Judge here.
The warrants were issued on the basis of disclosures made by American national and Lashker-e-Taiba terrorist David Headley, who was extensively questioned by the NIA officials in June this year.
The Red Corner Notice has been issued against Major Sameer Ali, and Major Iqbal, both serving in the Pakistani Army, Illyas Kashmiri, an LeT terrorist, Sajid Majid and Syed Abdur Rehman Hashim.
The security agencies have already secured Red Corner notice against Lashkers founder Hafeez Sayeed and his close aide Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi in connection with the 26/11 attacks that left over 160 people dead.
These people, according to NIA officials, had worked in close coordination with Headly in executing the nefarious plans of the Lashker for carrying out terror strikes in Mumbai.
