I was born in the morning, but it wasn't this morning.
Guilty as charged!
Yes! that is so cool. It's very old, but I see that there have been some great additions. Thanks. I have bookmarked it.
Our newest Jack Russel is named Hoot, because that is exactly what he is!
BTW, "spork-weasel" came about, in case you were wondering, when I was trying to come up with a funny sounding word and couldn't think of one and eventually turned to the internet for help. I soon found a list of words that were supposed to be inherently funny. "Spork" was on the list and so was "weasel" so I combined them both on the theory that that should be TWICE as funny. ( I then googled spork weasel to see if anyone beat me to the punch. Google showed only ONE sporkweasel. Some guy had it as a username on Wiki. He beat me by 6 months. I hate that guy!
Actually, you probably weren't wondering about it's origins at all, but there it is. :)
NiMH resents being called ‘unique’.
He will now position himself close to the top of teh stairs and sulk.
Having had the honor of being owned by a JRT, I believe it.
Thank you for the backstory! This should be bookmarked as Freeper Lore.
Yep, our sweet Rottie’s name is Schotze...I got it from the movie Blazing Saddles...it is Geoiman for treasure.
What would you name a Scottish Terrier if you had one “Dieter der Peter” ? LOL
“Dogs should have simple two-syllable names that are easy for the dog to recognize.”
Interesting post. I must have subconsciously known this already. All but one of our animals have always had two-syllable names, with most of them ending in the long “E” sound.
Dogs: Billy, Cody, Randy, Crackers, Sammy, Heidi...and “Jake.” Jake lasted about two days before getting sent back to animal rescue. He didn’t like our kids. Probably because we gave him a single syllable name.
Cats: Mackie, Sunshine, Mikey, Prescious, Friskies, Wimpy, and Charlie.
My wife and two kids also have two-syllable names (as do I), but as you mentioned, obedience doesn’t seem to come naturally. I still can’t get my wife to roll over on command.
Yep, DocRock’s classic!
Pictured: Tigger, Daniel and Fuzzball (together in one picture), and Gracie (showing off her summer shaved haircut!)
They must have had some fun with telemarketers.
Janey, Zia, Deimos, and Misty think those names are just fine.
Wayne called him “Dog”!!

I think it should be spelled D-A-W-G and RIP to John Wayne.
All my dogs picked their own names.
[But then there’s Odin who was Odin even before he was born because I knew he’d be a god]
Me, crazy?
Probably...but I’m okay with that.
Our next door neighbors in college listed their phone number under the dog’s name.

LOL! We do that, too. Whenever someone calls asking for someone by our deceased dogs name we know they are telemarketing. I just say, he’s not here. He is dead. Don’t call back, please.
RIP to my wonderful dog. He was one of a kind.
