Kitty keeps turning counter-clockwise.

Maybe I have a mental problem.

If you can't get it to change directions, the comments at the source link might help. BWAHAHAHAHA...did I say that out loud?

Pretty cool. Just close the eyes and picture it in the other direction.

It works for me. I have to actually close my eyes and imagine the picture in my head turning the opposite direction (per your directions). Just closing and opening my eyes doesn’t change the direction.

Weird.

I've never been able to see it the other direction, this one uses the same principle.

Huh..
I see a cat swinging its arms to the left and then to the right, back and forth.
It’s pretty cool.

It basically works by making your mind try and figure out what direction the image appears to rotate, which the animation appears to confuse by using the two-colour scheme that does not allow for the determination of the direction of rotation as there are no clues available through gradient shading. So, the mind takes over and “fills” in the details on what one should perceive as the direction of rotation.

With some practice, I could make the tail “rotate” clockwise, while the body went the other way, LOL!

The first time I looked away and looked back, it “changed” direction; sfter that it never happened again. Similar to holgraphic pictures for me; might see the other image once and after that, just the obvious.

I’m afraid to find out what the means! I know my thinking is literal/linear for the most part.

Gee whiz. To make it change, I have to command it to be facing toward me or facing away. It was stuck on counter-clockwise at first, and finally I got it to switch.

Mindbending.

I am able to get it to reverse only if I look out of one eye ... but I struggle to keep it from returning to clockwise.

Do we know the reasons why people see one way or the other?
