Thor has groupies!
And I have to say that forest looks just like forests here... pine beetle infestation.
I like Richie Porte’s, Saxo rider and Giro white jersey winner, appraisal of Andy Schleck, “He’s skinny.” Probably good to not give him too much praise, we don’t want the white knight of the peloton getting the big head.
And therein, I think, lies his greatest problem, Mr Blonde. He doesn't have the build of a trialer, a great all-arounder.
Unless he is able to ramp up his trialing he'll forever be in Contador's shadow.
Definitely. With his build he will have difficulty ever really putting a lot of weight on, but he has to find a way to develop enough power to at least be respectable in the TT.
To continue with a theme, I again think this is why he would benefit from being on Radio Shack. I don’t think anyone else is even close to Johan and Lance (and Chris Carmichael, is he still associated with the other two?) in exploiting every part of training to get the victory in the TDF.
At this point Andy has an 11th and probably 2 2nd place finishes in the TDF. And I think we have seen improvement in his climbing abilities (amazing right?), but so far not in his TT. Sticking with the guy, Kim Andersen, who has gotten you here is admirable, but he hasn’t shown that he can get Andy where he wants to go. And we all know the definition of crazy.
Agree wholeheartedly. I would love to see it.
Maybe it’s Low T!

16:38 - Schleck Consults Race Doctor
Andy Schleck has dropped behind the peloton to consult the race doctor. He is not happy about the cameras catching the consultation and is asking the cameramen to stop taking shots. It seems he has some issues with his left hand but hes finished with the doctor and is now riding back to the peloton.
Haha! There it goes again! There’s a gremlin in my keyboard! >:-/
I had been wondering about this. Your call on whether or not Oscar qualifies (backed in to win post-Landis). But, he was only 57” behind Dr Floyd. Had some doping rumors of his own, barely escaped Puerto, rides for Astana, done nothing since. You do the math. ;>)
16:25 - Five Champions Without Stage Wins Since 1947
Contador is yet to win a stage in the 2010 Tour. Since the first post-WWII race (in 1947) only five riders have won the title of the race without taking a stage in the same year.
Roger Walkowiak (FRA) in 1956
Gastone Nencini (ITA) in 1960
Lucien Aimar (FRA) in 1966
Greg LeMond (USA) in 1990
Oscar Pereiro (ESP) in 2006
Don’t forget that whoever takes Andy will also have to take Frank. They won’t go to separate teams- and they shouldn’t. It makes the move more complicated, though, b/c you have to find the budget/spots for 2 riders instead of 1.
There were a lot of rumors last year about the Schleck brothers riding for Radio Shack. Maybe they’ll come to fruition?
I wouldn’t be surprised to see more than just Lance be done after this year. None of the big names on Radio Shack are exactly spring chickens.
Lance - 38
Chris Horner - 38
Andreas Kloden - 35
Levi - 36
I would also venture to guess these are the biggest contracts on the team as well.
In fact only one rider on the TDF team for them is under 30. The team as a whole could use an infusion of young legs.
Good point! They are a bunch of old geezers! haha!
Lance has said that this is definitely the last TdF. He is riding the Leadville 100 here next month but I suspect we’ll see him in support of his foundation in the near term and as a team director in the not too distant future.
That’s a good point. The most promising youngster is Jani Brajkovic and from what I’ve seen of him, I think he may be more suited to the classics. He rode very well in the Dauphine but it takes a special rider to win a race that lasts 3 weeks.
I hope that Lance & Johan have a place in cycling after the Fed investigation is done.
CAVENDISH IS A BAD MANX!
He had by at least 5 bike lengths. Holy crap.
When you see Lance hiring a criminal defesnse lawyer, that doesn’t give you a warm fuzzy feeling.
Ooops, I missed the fact that top sprint points are 35, not 30. What a burst od speed.
