This thread is going to have me searching iTunes shortly!
Billy Connolly is hilarious, my husband is scottish so I got to listen to many of his early albums. I saw him live once as well.
My own favs include John Cleese, Woody Allen, Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David.
Bertie Wooster!!! I had the same problem, but my daughter kept watching House, so I finally relented.
I also am out of step with current tastes and also thankful.
I would put Red Skelton at the top of your list for his comedic talents and his patriotism.
Yes, FR can be very funny. I had no idea people were stealing some of the funny lines. I guess you can’t blame them though. Your story is interesting. Thank you.
Thanks. These are funny, funny people. All they have to do is breathe, and funny comes out.
Larry David says he is the same way. If he wasn’t so worried about what people think he would act that way.
Apparently you have to get permission from the person to make fun of them on the show. Jeff is obviously OK with being called fat.
I have heard another comedian who worked with him say that Rodney himself is one of the greatest comedy writers of all time.
I don't understand this phenomenon. I always liked Tim conway as a personality, but I also felt that he, Harvey Korman, and the whole Carol Burnett group were just not as naturally hilarious as some other comedians.
George Burns and Gracie Allen
Steven Wright
Richard Pryor
Jackie Gleason
Rodney Dangerfield
Mr. Bean (can't remember his real name at the moment)
Cheech and Chong (I put on my flame proof suit)hey I grew up in the ‘70’s
Rodney Dangerfield
Me too. I was thinking about him recently. I hadn't seen him for so long I was having trouble remembering his name and I was wondering how someone so funny could just drop of the face of the earth. According to Wikipedia he died of cancer at age 48.

Aww shucks, bro...
Thanks for being Member #0000001 of my fan club ;-)
My 2 favs are probably Dennis Miller and Jackie Mason.
This was probably my favorite Carson bit, when he did Walter Cronkite’s last broadcast the way he probably would have done if he could. Regardless of what you thought of Cronkite, this was pure comedy gold.

Bob Newhart. Bill Cosby...Obamas Speech writers{where do they get this stuff?}.
Comedy is like food. Everyone has different tastes. Also, they change. Things I wept with delirious laughter tears over 20 years ago I might not find as funny today. I think that a lot of the Carol Burnett skits were funnier because of Tim Conway and his drive to crack up his costars.
Oh my gosh, yes, this place is serious show prep for Rush. You have to admit that certain threads are so funny they are literally funnier than comedians’ routines. Try the thread on Al Gore (verbally, VERBALLY) spouting off today about how May was the hottest month. Talk about feeding FR a straight line. FUNNY stuff.
There is a certain elite club here, in which all members wear smoking jackets (men) or velvet gowns (women... and some men), and sit in big leather chairs. Some even smoke cigars. It’s the “Rush Has Quoted my Post Verbatim” club, of which I am eternally proud to be a member. All of us members are not in any way insulted by his borrowing; rather, we are thrilled to play even the smallest part of aiding El Rushbo as he strives to save the Constitutional Republic.
Like the dentist on Seinfeld who converted to Judaism, I only come here for the jokes. ;)
and this guy, who I had the pleasure seeing live just three weeks before he died:
