Excuse me? How did they get pregnant without a sexual partner? Some bizarre version of cell fission?
I think the implication is that because they have more difficulty finding people to boff, that when they do succeed, they are less willing to insist upon precautions against pregnancy, lest doing so costs them the intimacy altogether.
Has the author never been to a Wal-Mart/Family Dollar/Dollar General store or a Country & Western bar? I see tons (pun intended) of overweight & obese ladies pushing strollers and shopping carts with babies in them.
It said they had more trouble finding a sexual partner than thin chicks. It didn't say they couldn't get laid at all.
The found partners less often, but when they did, since they hadn’t been expecting to, they weren’t practicing any form of contraception.
It’s amounting to fat women being more fertile when they do find that “catch.”
