The half doberman-half black lab we adopted April 3rd, after we lost our dobie Bailey in March,,,has stolen our hearts! My husband has broken the longstanding “no doggies on the couch” rule, and invites the little guy(only 70 pounds instead of the 100 pound full dobes we are used to) onto the couch with him and lets Dusty lick his face until he begs for mercy, laughing all the while.
Besides horses, dogs are right up there on the list of the best creatures God created.
Happiness is a warm rescue doggie! He is so grateful to have a nice home. He was in doggie jail for a few months before we found him. He is loving the accommodations here. We are making sure to spoil him rotten.

In June 2009, 95-year-old Emma Gray died. For over two decades, she had been the cleaning lady in a big house. Each night as she did her work, she prayed for blessings, wisdom, and safety for the man she worked for.
Although Emma worked in the same place for 24 years, the occupants of the residence changed every 4 years or so. Over the years, Emma offered her nightly prayers for six US Presidents: Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Carter.
Emma had her personal favorites, but she prayed for them all. She followed the instruction we read in 1 Timothy 2 to pray for “all who are in authority” (v.2). The verses go on to speak of how living “a quiet and peaceable life” and being a godly and reverent person “is good and acceptable in the sight of God . . . who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (vv.2-4).
Because God “hears the prayer of the righteous” (Prov. 15:29), who knows how He used Emma’s faithful prayers? In Proverbs 21:1, we read: “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”
Like Emma, we are to pray for our leaders. Is there someone God is calling you to pray for today?

Aw, thanks, TCP! In looking for a poem to go with that cute little sheltie puppy (that I was ‘tempting’ JC with), I came across some real tear-jerkers!
I wanted a sweet poem, but not a ‘sad’ one.

Growing old is hard.
Now I have the terrible task of going out and finding a pair of acceptable quality lace up walking shoes. (My size 5 Easy Spirit mules are 'not acceptable'.) Into which I have to fit my new custom made orthotics. I HATE SHOE SHOPPING! It is a very frustrating process for me, because I wear a 5.5 or 5 depending on how the shoe is made. 99% of stores don't carry that size any more and say they can't order it. I get pointed to the children's section. I'm 62 not 6. Dora the explorer is not going to cut it with me. Besides children's shoes are poorly structured for an adult.
I've been told they don't make my size any more, they ship them all to the border states, yadah yadah...all of which are lies. Ordering online is a haphazard affair because no 2 brands are sized the same...thanks China for the crummy unpredictable sizing. GRR! Venting.
So sorry you are having trouble with your feet, Gail! Looking for shoes is always hard if your feet are normal. Sorry you are having trouble finding the prescribed shoe. Maybe your doctor can advise you on finding the shoes that he wants you to wear.
I remember a saying I’ve heard and I hope I have it right. “I complained when I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet.” I realize this is no consolation for you but it may help. ((((Hugs))))

Hi, Gail! I don’t know if these shoes would help or not - but they do take a lot of pressure of your ankles, legs, knees, thighs, hips and spine. (they look a bit ‘different’ - but I’ll give up style for comfort any day!)
