A Summer Afternoon
A languid atmosphere, a lazy breeze,
With labored respiration, moves the wheat
From distant reaches, till the golden seas
Break in crisp whispers at my feet.
My book, neglected of an idle mind,
Hides for a moment from the eyes of men;
Or lightly opened by a critic wind,
Affrightedly reviews itself again.
Off through the haze that dances in the shine
The warm sun showers in the open glade,
The forest lies, a silhouette design
Dimmed through and through with shade.
A dreamy day; and tranquilly I lie
At anchor from all storms of mental strain;
With absent vision, gazing at the sky,
“Like one that hears it rain.”
The Katydid, so boisterous last night,
Clinging, inverted, in uneasy poise,
Beneath a wheat-blade, has forgotten quite
If “Katy DID or DIDN'T” make a noise.
The twitter, sometimes, of a wayward bird
That checks the song abruptly at the sound,
And mildly, chiding echoes that have stirred,
Sink into silence, all the more profound.
And drowsily I hear the plaintive strain
Of some poor dove . . . Why, I can scarcely keep
My heavy eyelids—there it is again—
“Coo-coo!”—I mustn't—”Coo-coo!”—fall asleep!

I don’t seem to be having any trouble with posting, JC.
This is going to be a busy afternoon - I must take some full bags to “Recycle”, deliver a big box of oranges to some friends, off to to the post office, the pharmacy, then to the grocery store, and last but not least, pick up my little furry kid from the Groomers.

Thank you, Dolly.
I didn't get here early enough to get my Fathers Day graphic posted.
We spent yesterday afternoon celebrating fathers.
Marissa had her reading program class in the morning.
I enjoyed reading about your outing.
Looks like you had a wonderful day.
Have a sunny week.

Happy Monday
Dunes
by ML/LTOS
Won't You Come and Run
In The Dunes with Me?
I can't remember when I last felt so free.
I'm not a stranger to the city
I drive in the passing lane.
Sometimes the sights aren't very pretty.
It could drive a girl insane.
Gotta run, gotta run,
To escape from the pain.
Won't You Come and Run
In The Dunes with Me?
I can't remember when I last felt so free.
I've had my share of pleasures,
And dreams that would not float,
I've felt the winds of winter,
Like a knife right to my throat,
Gotta Run, Gotta run,
So I don't miss the boat.
Won't You Come and Run
In The Dunes with Me?
I can't remember when I last felt so free.

Thanks for that Father’s Day greeting.
Was surrounded by family yesterday. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Still recovering from last month’s surgery. It’s a looooong process which could last as much as 6 months. Got a follow-up visit with the Dr. on Friday.
Meanwhile, I’m adapting to my many restrictions - NO LIFTING, bending, twisting, etc.

But this one pretty much shows the immensity of it.

It opens, starts, and then stops. I probably need to defrag my laptop. It has been doing that all day. Probably a subtle hint to get off the computer! LOL
