I don't know what I can control. I did see that if I sign in to Google I can manage my browser history. That is a to do note to me.

Facebook owns it. But they think my name is Richard Milhous Nixon, that I have a PhD from Sam Houston Institute of Technology, and live at 1060 W. Addison St. in Chicago.

Plead copyright ownership, since you “published” the information; let the court sort it out.

Who owns your - Personal info?

...Facebook Google or You...?

Here’s a clue.

Its not you.

According to a new report in The Washington Post:

.. Because your account information is stored on a company’s servers, on the “cloud” that is the Internet rather than on your personal laptop, the company owns it, not you.

Got that?

The company owns it - NOT you.

So what?

Well, suppose you get sued.

All it takes is a subpoena - and all of your - I mean Facebook’s and Google’s information not only goes public - but right into the courtroom.

Pictures - comments - the works.

Many online service providers ... have been building huge dossiers [on your online] activities. Some store detailed data for a month, while others keep it for years.

See it - Link it:

“Plead copyright ownership, since you ‘published’ the information”

Copyrights have to be filed, no?

Don't post your personal info on Facebook, or anywhere on the internet. If you do, it's all in the public domain.

As far as privacy is concerned, check out you public records sometime. It's what government sells to those bothersome telemarketers.

I really don't think JimRob is going to be spilling all of your details. How do we know who is whom here? We don't.

I never trusted Facebook. People kept telling me I “had” to join. I often felt like the only person in the world who didn’t. But I did not see a need, didn’t have any desire to. Now, after hearing Leo LaPorte on the radio rant against it, I am very glad I never joined. Facebook, even your private stuff, IS NOT PRIVATE. Leo deleted everything of his from there, and he is a public figure and had a public page. Deleted.

No, JimRob wouldn’t spill any details, but anyone can read the body of the threads and pick up whatever information that’s there.

I think most people here are very aware of that, though. I would hope!

Not any more, though filing is still an option.

Another important minimum rule established by the Berne Convention is that copyright arises with the creation of a work and does not depend upon any formality such as a system of public registration (Article 5(2)).

"Work" is very broadly defined.

The so called three-step test holds that an exception is only permitted "in certain special cases, provided that such reproduction does not conflict with a normal exploitation of the work and does not unreasonably prejudice the legitimate interests of the author".

It may only serve as a nuisance, but a few million nuisances can add up to a major PITA.
