"17 more states planning Ariz. 'illegal' crackdown
But ICE chief says feds might not 'process' illegals arrested by state

In what is developing into a standoff between states and the federal government that could be bigger than gun control or even health care, 17 states have launched versions of Arizona's immigration law, even as federal officials say they may not bother to process illegal aliens caught by the states.

William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, which has been trying to get officials to address the open southern border for years, warned the consequences could be dire.

"They've told the American public to go eat cake," he said.

His organization is assembling the list of state efforts to emulate the Arizona law, which makes it illegal under state as well as federal law to be in the state without documentation.

Seventeen states are now filing versions of Arizona's SB 1070, which is designed to help local police enforce America's existing immigration laws," ALIPAC said in a report today.

The report said numerous national and local polls indicate 60 to 81 percent of Americans support local police enforcing immigration laws.

Gheen said the states where some form of immigration crackdown is under development include Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas and Utah."

The advantage Alaska has is that most south-of-the-border people don't like our climate. I think we should show solidarity anyway and pass a similar law.

What will the regime say if the states simply make camps for them, lock the doors and throw the keys away?

Camps? Screw that, waste of tax money. Put parachutes on them, and air drop them over Chihuahua. If they don't know how to pull the rip cord - tough rocks.

I wish California would join AZ but it will never happen.

Same is true here in Oregon. I am a refugee (legal) from CA. Sounds like the SOS in CA, only worse.

That is excellent! Very good news. I still don’t see CO on the list though. I guess I’m going to have to make some phone calls. Write some letters. Make a PITA out of myself.

Thank God Texas is showing up. Gov Good Hair can talk all he wants about his "concerns" with the AZ law - I bet he will sign this if it lands on his desk.

Florida is absent and the GOp controls the FL House and Senate. FL GOP is filled with RINOs - Jeb Bush, Connie MAck, Crist (I now) and Rubio who was against the AZ law before he was slightly for it.

Well does this mean these 'compassionate' politicians are for the Calderon, Mexican Immigration LAW? Wonder what they would say if they were asked if they should enact Mexican Immigration LAW?

We went out for pizza last night, not a chain, but a real Italian mom and pop restaurant. Our waitress was a 20 year old Mexican woman.

The governors of each of these states should put ICE on notice that each and every time the Feds refuse to process an illegal, they will publicize the names, photographs, job titles, office addresses, and telephone numbers of the official making the decision and the next three levels up in the chain of command.

Wish California were next.

Surprisingly, California already has laws on its books very similar to the one recently passed in Arizona. (They're not being enforced, of course.)

Heck, their helping the illegals get out of the state.
I watched open box cars being filled with illegals under the Coronado Bridge in San Diego at 5 am.

Locals said it has been going on for 15 years - every night.

I’m with you but I don’t see it happening in our lifetime unless there truly is an uprising.
