Oh brother. Gen. Stanley McChrystal is wanting a new medal to be awarded to U.S. Soldiers for showing "Courageous Restraint" - not killing civilians.
In the report, CNN Reporter Barbara Starr said she asked one soldier what he thought about it, and he just "rolled his eyes." He told her they are already trained to be disciplined and not kill civilians and sees no reason for a medal like this.

There is a big problem with this. A leftist regards a “civilian” as anyone not wearing a military uniform. So a Jihadist in Khakis is a “civilian” just as much as a little Iraqi tyke playing ball in the steet.

I wonder if it violates the UCMJ to refrain from displaying a ribbon which you've been awarded.

Kick out any and all military leaders who think that not killing the enemy, whatever age, sex, flag or other comes in, does NOT deserve our courageous troops everywhere.
They deserve to be put under a courts martial for "cowardice in the face of the enemy and undermining the effect and morale of the American Military."

Stupidest idea that’s ever come down the pike. It’s hard to believe, but that CNN reporter(Barbara Starr) implied it was a stupid idea in the story. Props to her.

You get an oak leaf cluster for every one of your buddies who gets killed because you had a shot and didn’t take it
If awarded posthumously, this award is accompanied by the “It was nice knowing ya” medal

General McChrystal do us a favor and join the French Army! They will welcom you with open arms and kisses. Beside no army in the world knows more about Courageous Restraint the Germans can swear to that!

I don’t know that the UCMJ expressly prohibits you—there may be valid reasons not to wear a medal. For example, if it were awarded posthumously, as this one would undoubtedly be...

An American soldier was murdered by small arms fire in Southern Afghanistan yesterday along with several NATO troops. I guess they were precluded from firing back.
