Since the Icelandic volcanic eruption weeks ago, I have been monitoring this site: http://en.vedur.is/earthquakes-and-volcanism/earthquakes/myrdalsjokull/ The tremors in the last few hours are the most I have seen in weeks. The concern is that when this volcano erupts, Katla has erupted in the past. Katla is one of Iceland's "Two Angry Sisters" and is implicated in the social and economic conditions which led to the French Revolution. This geological activity could have a dramatic impact on the economic survival of Europe and for the false profits of Global Warming. Other sites which provide up to the minute information on the geology of Iceland are here: http://www.volcanodiscovery.com/en/iceland/eyjafjallajoekull/news.html and here: http://hraun.vedur.is/ja/Katla2009/stodvaplott.html
I don’t know.
yes the important thing is to never be definitive on time-frames or absolute conditions that will eventually be false.
How do you something will be false? Shouldn’t it be...may be false...? I don’t see how one could predict the future.
Mebbe I can help...
Eye Yaff Yalla Yokull
Eyjafjallajökull
Thanks much, I appreciate your assistance in what was a tongue twister.
When the scientists were trying to trace what they eventually figured out was the Toba eruption 75,000 years ago, one of the volcanos they suspected was Laki.
Laki is the big Kahuna. TEOTWAWKI time!
If you use Google maps and look at Iceland, you can see that it looks like the whole island is a caldera!
Thanks - great view!
No prob. After first seeing the name of that volcano in the press, I just had to track down the pronunciation. It was driving me nuts.
Separating the name into syllables helps a bit, too:
Ey jaf jalla jökull
(Eye Yaff Yalla Yokull)
That certainly makes it simpler, thanks.
