Did nobody see this coming?

Were they all busy worrying about Norway?

Troops are also massing to push into France instead of just holding it. Everyone knows that the time for Neville “Peace in our time” Chamberlain is over, so when is it going to be over?

The thing about the TV was interesting. RCA had an experimental big screen TV way back then??

Sure. Don't you remember last year we were talking about the first televised football game ever. Brooklyn and New York if I remember right.

Yep, within a few days the Nazis will occupy Paris and it will be done almost without a fight.

Chamberlain knew a couple days before that it was over. He resigned seventy years ago today.

Did nobody see this coming? Yes and no. The French thought there was going to be a German invasion, but not where it actually was. As posted earlier, here is their intelligence map for April 27. As you can see, they were not really sure where the Germans had their troops, but suspected an attack north of the Ardennes. The French had their "Dyle Plan" all ready to meet it. In a few days, I'll post more British and French intelligence maps. You will be able to see how realization dawned on them just how badly they'd blown the campaign. Photobucket
