"You saw no reason for your big tire just to smash the tarantula!!!Or anyone ELSE's tire, for that matter.
I have also stopped traffic for a mother duck and her baby ducklings, like in #s 701 and 702. If I see anything trying to cross the road - I'll stop and try to save it.
But, one time I wasn't so lucky. A turtle was crossing a two lane country road - and going at a snail's pace. I begged my husband (ex) to PLEASE back up, and let me move the turtle to safe ground. He did. But, a car went around us to pass us - and you guessed it. :-(

Tarantulas don’t bite - they are the only spider with a gentle nature. I used to have one come up to the front porch every night, when I would sit out there. I would whistle, and say, “Hairy?” , and he would come right up to the step, every night, and look at me, then turn and walk off to his adventureous life.

Good thing we don’t have the availability of sound effects here. (I’m hiding under a chair).
But, my kids were in the car that day - and it was something none of us will ever forget. I felt HORRIBLE for months!
