THE aliens are out there and Earth had better watch out, at least according to Stephen Hawking. He has suggested that extraterrestrials are almost certain to exist but that instead of seeking them out, humanity should be doing all it that can to avoid any contact.
Hawkings logic on aliens is, for him, unusually simple. The universe, he points out, has 100 billion galaxies, each containing hundreds of millions of stars. In such a big place, Earth is unlikely to be the only planet where life has evolved.
He suggests that aliens might simply raid Earth for its resources and then move on: We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldnt want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonise whatever planets they can reach.
He concludes that trying to make contact with alien races is a little too risky. He said: If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didnt turn out very well for the Native Americans.
Hawking has suggested the possibility of alien life before but his views have been clarified by a series of scientific breakthroughs, such as the discovery, since 1995, of more than 450 planets orbiting distant stars, showing that planets are a common phenomenon.
Hawkings belief in aliens places him in good scientific company. In his recent Wonders of the Solar System BBC series, Professor Brian Cox backed the idea, too, suggesting Mars, Europa and Titan, a moon of Saturn, as likely places to look.

Really? So why dont we have robots picking lettuce? And why do we have corporations lobbying for open borders? Its a safe bet that space aliens also need people to to the jobs that aliens wont do.
because the unemployed steel workers, auto workers, whatever workers, think that they are above picking lettuce and our inane unemployment benefit policies prove that they are right.....why pick lettuce when uncle moneybags will send you a check every month for doing nothing....and with that check (our money) you can buy the lettuce that an illegal is harvesting.....WHAT A COUNTRY!!
There is a huge difference between slave labor and cheap labor.
The people coming across our boarders to work in the fields are willing labor and they work for wages.
Slave labor is forced labor. Slaves produce as little as they can without incurring the wrath of the slave master.
The people coming to work in the fields typically are paid piece rate. The are paid for how hard they work, so they work hard.
All of their aliens are dead. I doubt that they care.
I am curious why you think he is an idiot.
The reason I ask is because I have read his book A Brief History of Time probably 20 times and still do not understand what he is talking about.
I always thought it was because his IQ was probably 10 times higher than mine. But I have also wondered whether the book was a hoax and or gibberish.
Have you ever come across any sites on the internet that paint his ideas as nonsense?
Hawking is intelligence personified. He was gifted with brilliance and handicapped by his disabilities. Believe me, you didn’t understand his book because you are incapable of thinking the was he does, and he was incapable of getting through to we who do not share his capabilities. No one, that I know of, would have the unmittigated gall to actually challenge a brilliant mind such as his. Can we disagree with some of his conclusions, of course, can we ever hope to challenge him on a scientific basis......not a chance.....Prove, with your own scientific research, that he is wrong, or either accept or reject his views on purely “I don’t think so” principles.
Easy - the slave who live here can mine the ores - also who knows what they really want... I'll go with our unique human energy. Taste great!
You may have a point there.
Heavier elements are probably not as abundant in asteroids.
Wouldn't "jumping" be more efficient? What if it's folded like bolts of cloth? Millions of light years an illusion?
I doubt that these aliens would need to resort to enslaving humans.
Having a technology far advanced to ours they could trade with us for much less trouble.
It would be like the Dutch trading a few beads to the Indians for Manhattan Island.
Even if you could reach 99% of light speed, it would take forever to get anywhere in the galaxy. It would seem that the best means of interstellar travel is to bend space itself or tunnel through it.
Agreed. Ever read "The Martian Way" by Asimov? It highlights how bountiful this universe is for those resourceful enough to take what is there. Earth is but a speck on a hair in a zit on a flea's arse.
I think Hawking is letting his imagination get the better of him....to put it politely.
IQ and Idiot are not mutually exclusive, let’s just leave it at that.
Stanton Friedman asserts that we have heavy metals and a variety of substances that are very rare in the solar system, if not the universe.
“They,” whatever they are,
have been here for a long time.
That much is rather clear.
bttt

Similarly, Lord Rees, the astronomer royal, warned in a lecture earlier this year that aliens might prove to be beyond human understanding.
I suspect there could be life and intelligence out there in forms we cant conceive, he said. Just as a chimpanzee cant understand quantum theory, it could be there are aspects of reality that are beyond the capacity of our brains.

SOUNDS, to me, like it’s another iterative effort to prepare the masses for a much more overt . . . manifestation of the critters, craft and technologies . . . e.g. on the way to or helping coerce masses into . . . the oligarchy’s global government.
Seems, to me, like a LOT of unwarranted assuming about a LOT of variables, had to go into that assertion.
Stanton Friedman has an excellent discourse on why that assumption is likely extremely flawed. It may be on his website.

As a psychologist and sociologist, I think it's a riot when grand pronouncements are made . . . about ET's . . . and their "MUST BE" psychology, sociology, values, interests, habits etc. I doubt that we know as much as we THINK we know about the psychology and sociology of dogs, sloths, or ants or aardvarks.
Particularly when the boss spreading his values around is . . . lucifer.
Too late.
That issue gets interesting . . .
There’s not a lot of puzzle pieces on it in the public domain.
The most persistent is the bit about underground bases . . . and slurry in vats . . . containing human body parts . . . those ET’s don’t have digestive tracts . . . and reportedly spread the slurry on their skin for sustenance.
Given all the disinformation in the field . . . who knows. But that is the most persistent item on that score.
Does that mean that Scythian is an expert on the topic?
