Time to lay off Mitt bashing? Mitt, Bachmann and Palin are the only ones speaking up?

Truth in advertising:
I've been an off and on, Mitt Romney supporter.
By and large, off. But I'm beginning to wonder if maybe Mitt deserves a second look.

Mitt is short for what? Mitthhew? Mitten? Mittkin?

I have nothing to say other than you are truly entitled to your opinion. I see your point. All I want is an electable candidate who will put the brakes on — hard.

McCain is a slimy chump McCain is not any more slimy than Mitt Romney....they are opposite sides of 1 coin.
the Haircutt....Willard Romney, is as bad if not worse than McCain.
I hate them both but would vote for either of these too POSs before I would either not vote, or vote for Obama..
..but don't try to make it out like KittenMittens is a conservative....he is a RINO turd and will be our undoing in 2012 if he is the republican standard bearer.....

Not as a ZOT-summoning, per se; standard FR courtesy is to "ping" a fellow FReeper when quoting them. ;)

Mitt doesn’t like Tea Parties, Tea Parties don’t like Mitt. He was the first with his “prototype” Obamacare in Mass. Nope ... RINO.

Perhaps you weren’t a conservative up in MA during the Romney years. The guy is the ultimate big-government, blind-ambition technocrat. Perhaps you haven’t lived in a liberal state before and you also don’t understand that state governments can be intrusive and oppressive—such as a state government mandating healthcare—almost as well as the federal government can.
To: Springfield Reformer
The simple fact remins that Masscare serves as the real world failed prototype of Obamacare, and its usefulness in that regard should be looked at as a blessing.

I don't care what Romney (and no McCain) says - its what he has done that counts.
All of his recent conservative talk is just trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

The trouble with all the Mitt-bashers, though, is that they don't present a CREDIBLE alternative. While Romney is out there on TV presenting himself as a viable option, no one else is. Perhaps Newt, I guess. Sarah (God bless her) won't ever get elected nationally. Jindal is weak. The Huckster does not seem interested. Pawlenty is too soft-spoken. "W" killed off Jeb's chances. Good men like Pence and Daniels are total unknowns to the country at large. So, who? Can Christie lose a little weight by '12?

You’ve provided YOUR logic for there not being ‘credible’ alternatives. Credible to you, that is. I disagree. And I will state categorically that I will never, ever, support another RINO, whether it’s Romney, Giuliani, Huckabee, Newt, or whoever. Period. Paragraph. And you can insert the RINO name [here]. I still won’t support them.

I actually supported Romney (when the only alternative was McCain!) Romney couldn't beat McCain and McCain couldn't beat Obama. Shoulda wrote in Fred.

But you still don’t present me with a credible alternative.

I would have voted for Mitt over McCain or the Huckster. But honestly having those three as the last standing was a disaster. Mitt flip flops and I really do not know where he stands on the issues one moment to the next. I don't know where he stands now because of his flip flopping. It should not take 5 minutes of circumnavigation on an issue when 30 seconds is enough to lay out your opinion. But McCain and Huck were no better.
I was pulling for Fred and Duncan but they seemed to be sedated on Quaaludes the whole primary when methamphetamine would have helped more.
To: MrChips
Romney is the one that is not credible, with almost 18 years in the candidate game, Mitt Romney has one election win to show for it.
Romney took that one election win and did so poorly that he could not run for reelection, although he wanted to, and he left office with 34% approval and turned the seat over to the Democrats.
Romney invested about 150 million dollars in his poor showing in 2008 against unfunded, opponents with tiny organizations.
