Is this the couple that I read about a couple of years ago? She was a Christian, and her husband built her her own, tiny chapel, even though he was not a Christian. I saw pictures of the chapel and it was barely large enough to hold one person.

In the book “The Vikings” by Robert Ferguson, the author alludes to this, and states that the Irish monks possibly retreated to Iceland for something like solitude or penance.

Hjörleifur was killed by his slaves, which only left Ingólfur and his wife Hallgerdur Fródadóttir.

Doesn't make sense unless Ingólfur and his wife Hallgerdur Fródadóttir were the slaves. Or maybe slaves didn't count in Iceland.

pretty sure I have read that there were irish monks living in very small numbers on the island prior to north germanic immigration.
