I live in a small town in Southern Oregon. I had been grooming for Petco but I was only making minimum wage. A competitor offered me much more money. I went there when they had no groomers at all. They hired 3 more groomers and fired me after 2 weeks. The bosses at corporate won’t let my old boss hire me back. Grooming shops here are closing left and right. I took a few years recently of business tech in college. Not much call for that around here.Thank you ALL so much for your prayers and suggestions and for helping me feel like I am not alone. I love my FReeper family.
Are there no other local groomers who might hire you? You said some were closing, but could there be still a few in business? Would be good to use your skills as a groomer.

Another guy took his smoker on the road and sells smoked fish on weekends on the side of the road when there are no county inspectors to harass him. He has sold out every weekend but one for the past year, plus people pay him to cut trees for them and he takes the wood if it's the right type to use for the smoker.

I agree with the suggestion of the temp agency. Pretty much the only way to get a job within the span of a few days and perhaps even get a paycheck.
Do you have family you can stay with?
We live in a coastal town in northern California, and there’s a mobile groomer that is doing just fine. He has a van and goes around to people’s homes. Wonder if you could strike out on your own?
What about a job at a veterinarian’s office helping out with the animals, including grooming? You have my prayers.
