Potatoes........can I grow them from the grocery store?

From what I understand, the grocery store varieties are treated to extend shelf life and to keep them from srputing so easily. You need to buy "seed potatoes" from your garden supply, or your feed supply store. They aren't in yet here -- expected this week. Or, you can try mail order on the web. Most grocery store potatoes are treated to help keep them from sprouting eyes. You can grow them but you may not get good results. Seed potatoes will ensure you are growing the variety you want and they are disease free.
