Facebook has been linked to a resurgence in the sexually-transmitted disease syphilis, according to health experts.
The virus has increased fourfold in Sunderland, Durham and Teesside, the areas of Britain where Facebook is most popular, because it has given people a new way to meet multiple partners for casual sexual encounters.

Well the British have been hooking up for sex at pubs for decades. Heavy, binge drinking on Friday nights and picking up drunken grils has long been a British tradition, long before Facebook was invented. If you didn't set out to sleep with complete strangers before, Facebook was never going to make you do it. It's more like these people are sexually lose to start off with, then used Facebook to get even more promicious than ever. I just don't see how how one goes out there and meets a total stranger from the internet for sex, and still refuse to use protection. Britain is really going to the dogs lately.
