This morning I woke up with a Merle Haggard song in my head.

Are the good times really over for good lyrics.

***I wish a buck was still silver.

It was back when the country was strong.

Back before Elvis; before the Vietnam war came along.

Before The Beatles and “Yesterday”,

When a man could still work, and still would.

Is the best of the free life behind us now?

Are the good times really over for good?

Are we rolling down hill like a snowball headed for hell?

With no kind of chance for the Flag or the Liberty bell.

Wish a Ford and a Chevy,

Could still last ten years, like they should.

Is the best of the free life behind us now?

Are the good times really over for good?

I wish coke was still cola,

And a joint was a bad place to be.

And it was back before NixonObama lied to us all on TV.

Before microwave ovens,

When a girl could still cook and still would.

Stop rolling down hill like a snowball headed for hell.

Stand up for the Flag and let`s all ring the Liberty bell.

Let`s make a Ford and a Chevy,

Still last ten years, like they should.

The best of the free life is still yet to come,

The good times ain`t over for good.***

Thank Goodnes!! The thought about of you losing another passport woke me up about 0130 and lost some sleep over it.
When I worked oversees people would come in after having lost theirs.

The Intolerable Act Diaries - Day 1

VERIZON Strikes Back
CATERPILLER Identifies Corporate Costs
EXPERTS weigh in on the effects of the legislation

Well, the ink is barely dry on the Intolerable Act, and maybe one or two of those dozen or so pens used to sign it have already been lost, but two corporate giants have let it be known that it ain't they that are going to pay for this abomination.

Caterpillar indicated that the Intollerable Act would cost the company some $100 million this year alone. While there are no further details, it's not a big reach to say the company is warning both its stockholders that the bottom line has been dinged by the POTUS, or in the alternative, "look, labor unions, you were on board with the POTUS on this, open wide - here comes payback!"

Verizon, who employs a fair number of union workers, was more direct. In a e-mail to employees, styled "[The POTUS] Signs Health Care Legislation", the telecommunications corporation:

** warned employees about the 40% tax on high-end health plans and that retirees would have costs above the tax threshold and be subject to the 40% tax and that the tax burden would be spread across all employees

** indicated the compnay would have additional costs insofar as there are certain benefits that would accrue to the company that would be taxed at corporate rates (35%)

There are also other implications:

** Companies will start dropping drug coverage rather than pay additional taxes (so much for "if you like your plan you can keep it" - dead on day 1!!)

** Companies will end up with lower earnings, and thus lower stock prices, due to the accounting rules under Sarbanes-Oxley that require the new costs of long-term retiree health liability to be accounted for, in full, immediately.

Basically, the point is this:

The economic geniuses associated with the Communists still don't understand that corporations don't pay taxes.

This is a summarization of a Wall Street Journal article, here.

Recently, Communist party member John Conyers was asked what was the Constitutional authority was for Congress to enact health care reform.

Conyers, the ever-highly esteemed Consitutional scholar, opined:

Under several clauses; the good and welfare clause and a couple others.

Hmmm. He could be right - the Good and Welfare Clause.

It does go to show, we must NOT have the most up-to-date version of the Constitution.

Good and Welfare Clause...

ROTFLOL!!!

(It does make me wonder what the "couple other" are. Perhaps the Commerce Creation clause and the Wealth Distribution clause, perhaps?)

IMPORTANT - Potential hidden tax implication to the 26-year-old coverage rule!

File this under You knew they were going to screw you!

From Hugh Hewitt's blog:

I've heard you talking about one of the "benefits" of Obamacare being the ability to add dependents to insurance until they are 26 years old. This has been the law in Illinois since June 2009. There is a catch to this. If the dependent you are adding doesn't qualify as an "IRS qualified dependent" this is considered a taxable benefit for the individual that owns the insurance. So, for those employees who fall into this category, each payday, we have to add imputed income to their payroll that equals the monetary value of the insurance. The recommended imputed income amount is equal to the full cost of individual coverage. That means we add that dollar amount (for us it's about $500) to the employee's payroll, taxes are calculated and withheld, and the $500 is then removed from the employee's payroll. Bottom line is the IRS, State, Social Security and Medicare all receive taxes on the value of the insurance benefit. Bittersweet deal.

*****************************

Yep, probably right. There are going to be a whole bevy of Americans that are going to come to understand "imputed income".

‘all is not lost’ hope

As long as we live, breath, and THINK - it is not lost. There are lots and lots of smart folks in our camp. We'll figure out how to get out of the mess.

Victory WILL be ours!

And here is a list of just some of the things the Communists are now on record as supporting (by virtue of their defeating certain Republican amendments to the Intolerable Act fix):

** Communists do not want to protect Medicare savings
** Communists want to leave in the bribes (Cornhusker, etc.)
** Communists rejected a prohibition against rate increases
** Communists rejected a bar of sex offenders from receiving ED drugs (e.g., viagra) - my favorite
** Communists rejected Medicare Advantage cuts
** Communists rejected an exemption of wounded soldiers from the medical device tax
** Similarly for kids, disabled, and cancer patients (WOW!)
** Communists rejected protecting the integrity of Veteran and DoD health care programs

Thank you Chair for joining us again with your words of knowledge. I’m happy to see you’ve used the word “communist”, because I usually use “socialist/communist” as socialism is communist lite.
Join us more often, if your time permits. Your knowledge is welcome here. How are your children?

I question if the paper the muslim signed is actually now the law of the land. It is unconstitutional, is was not read and studied before it was pushed through the democrats
for approval (votes).
