CRU has been extremely influential in IPCC reconstructions through: coauthorship, the use of CRU chronologies, peer review and IPCC participation.

I wish that the press and even individuals would stop phrasing it in this misleading way.

That is so misleading. Indirectly this was the primary and ONLY source on which the IPCC political summaries were based.

That is why real scientists resigned participation in the IPCC in significant numbers!
