Why is it that some people get away with stuff....
And you and I always get...
BUSTED!!!!!
LOL!
You should have told your Dad that the rabbit’s foot brought good luck.....on no, don’t tell him that....he could’ve cut the foot off. That so called good luck rabbit’s foot was not such good luck for the rabbit, huh? LOL!
As the high school chorale prepared to sing Horatio G. Spaffords classic hymn, It Is Well With My Soul, a teen stepped forward to tell the songs familiar history. Spafford wrote the song while on a ship that was near the spot at sea where his four daughters perished.
As I listened to that introduction and then the words sung by the teenagers, a flood of emotions washed over me. Where his four daughters perished were hard words to grasp as I listened again to Spaffords words of faith. Having lost one daughter suddenly, I find the idea of losing four unfathomable.
How could it be well for Spafford in his grief? I hear the words When peace like a river attendeth my way and remember where peace can be found. Paul says in Philippians 4 that it can be found as our heart-prayers are voiced to God (v.6). By trustful praying, we unburden our hearts, divest our anxieties, and release the grip on our grief. And we can gain the peace of God (v.7)an inexplicable, divine calmness of spirit. This peace supersedes our ability to understand our circumstances (v.7), and it is a guard on our heart, through Jesus, that protects us enough to allow us to whisper, even in the pain, It is well with my soul.
Harvey lived a long and happy life,
Teaching me about kindness and committment.

LOL~~~great name, little raisins.
When my oldest son was a very little one (we had a bunny rabbit in a cage in the backyard,) plainly seen from the kitchen window. One day we glanced out and he was putting the little ‘raisins’ in his mouth....ewwww! Needless to say I ran to him quickly. I didn’t scold but just explained, trying not to laugh.
I’ll join ya in ‘teh jungle’, JC! Saturdays ARE great for sleeping (if the dust bunnies are under control.)

Exploring The dark Side of The Bottom End
OMG! I had Saturday OFF and My Bass beckoned to me.
I played all 84 scales and modes, a bunch of pentatonics, and some exercises on the bass yesterday morning.
Then I played ALL my entire bass repertoire, including the entire Blues Brothers Review (Donald Dunn), James Jameson (Four Tops), Van Morrison, The Doors, The Stones (Bill Wymann), Steely Dan (Chuck Rainey), Aretha (Jerry Jemmott) Some stuff by Miles Davis, B.B. King, The Beatles, Sting, Etc. All in all, about three solid hours of bass-playing. Then the doorbell rang. It was a former student of mine, Josh, who is now a Production Client, who wanted to work on his Christmas Album. Also he has a wonderful female vocalist he would like me to produce with him as the piano accompanist. We jammed a bit, with me on drums...but my fingers were itching for the bass again, so I picked it up and taught him “Riders of the Storm” on the piano. Then we did a bunch of Vince Garaldi Christmas Jazz, and lots of Blues and I played bass some MORE.
We went over to Sam Ash (Music Store across the street...dangerous!) and there were three BIG guys (looked like NFL Linebackers) over in the BASS department. I moseyed on over to them and said that I play bass. “Oh yeah? “says one of the Linebackers, handing me a bass, “PLAY SOMETHING!”
I started playing “DOMINO” by Van Morrison. The three linebackers started grooving and said “What IS that?”
I said “It’s OLD SCHOOL. This is REAL R&B. “
Then they wanted to learn it. So I taught them the whole song. All three of them started playing “DOMINO” in unison on three basses and I started singing it with all the Van Morrison inflections. Of course, it is a wonderful song, and it sounded very cool. The older musicians in the store recognized it instantly and started dancing.
My sister Janet had suggested I put some of my Native American beadwork on a guitar strap, so I purchased a wide cloth bass strap and attached a band of Plains Style beadwork that I had done years ago to the strap with glue and stitches. I hope it is not too fragile. Perhaps there is a way to secure the beads without losing their flexibility.
I now have blisters on my right hand index and middle finger, but basicly had a lovely day exploring the the dark side of the bottom end!
For some arcane reason, people always make jokes about Bass Players.
Like:
“How do you get a Bass player off your doorstep?.......Pay for the Pizza.”
Yet, the music just isn’t the same without that BASS!
Wonderful “It Is Well With My Soul” message, Mayor.
A number of years ago, a church member wrote a musical titled, “This Side of Heaven” which included “It Is Well” as one of the songs and related Horatio Spafford’s testimony.
The storyline of the musical starts with a church’s musical director thumbing through a hymnal in search of songs for upcoming worship services. He dozes off and begins to dream about some of those old hymns of the church and from that point forward, his dream comes to life on stage in hymn-writers corner of heaven where stories are told of the writing of several hymns. I played three different characters in the drama portion and sang with the Heavenly Choir.
I’ve got it on VHS and pull it out occasionally to watch and sing those great old hymns of the church.
How SWEET!! Hope kitty is warmer now. Thanks
That is such an AWESOME picture! Thanks
Precious little wabbit....
