REST IN PEACE, FALLEN BROTHER!
Spc. Ian T.D. Gelig, USA, KIA Afghanistan 1MAR2010
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
God Of Our Fathers
Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in peace! We who remain hold you in high honor. Rest, fallen brother, in this sacred precinct; We who remain keep this place sacred. Rest, fallen brother, among these, your comrades; We who remain keep the watch. Rest, fallen brother, among these who answered the Nations call; We who remain press the fight forward in your name. Rest, fallen brother, lay down thy burden; We who remain have taken up the torch. Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in eternal peace!

The Soldier
If I should die, think only this of me: That there's some corner of a foreign field That is forever England. There shall be In that rich earth a richer dust concealed; A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware, Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam; A body of England's, breathing English air, Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home. And think, this heart, all evil shed away, A pulse in the eternal mind, no less Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given; Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day; And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness, In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.
Rupert Brooke

I love this opening March graphic, the poem is perfect.
Sorry to have been absent, have really missed everyone here. Have been helping out with elderly relatives, lost one of them last month, he was very ill and is in a better place now.
Love y'all!
To: Aquamarine
Thank you.
Please accept our condolences, Aqua.
It is so hard to lose our elderly relatives even when they are ill.
I’m praying that God gives you stength to continue caring for those you love.
We miss you .... and love ya.

The Weary Road
The valley before me is cloaked in stygian black,
the path down a narrow stony trace for all it lacks.
Here and there gleams the reds of hellish fires glow,
all that illuminates my way, the only path I can go.
I step forth, my path must be traveled in this life,
though I will struggle with the sear of pain and strife.
Crying out in my pain, I advance, for that is my way,
a stubborn soul who must see the other side so fey.
I scream out in my pain, awakening to lifes true burn,
and crossing the valley, step by step, each in its turn.
I weep for respite, I cry for relief, I beg for peace so,
and still I stubborn go, burning in the heat of life as I go.
Promises made, and broken in my weakness, still I move,
unable to stop and fail, believing the promises of the Dove.
Words, just words, engraved in my aching soul, so worn,
holding me upright as I slowly walk this landscape so torn.
Oh let me find peace, let the coolness envelope me at last,
vanish this pain, that I might find it all a dream now past.
Scoured, scarred, and stained by life, I seek that to be found,
there, on the other side of this dark valley, on Holy Ground.
Bowed with my burden, I k now my utter worthlessness,
yet I will be welcomed, renewed with loves forgiveness.
My tears will water the gardens that will surround me then,
so one foot before the other, all I can do, over and over again.

Conor, thank you for remembering our fallen heroes. They will not be forgotten.
Father, please comfort and bless the families of Spc. Ian T.D. Gelig and Rifleman Carlo Apolis. Please welcome them with open arms. We will not forget these young men who gave their all for freedom. We ask in Jesus Name. Amen.

Billie, I’m so far behind that I will never catch up. I had to make an unplanned trip into Fresno today. I will probably need to go again this week. Insurance will no longer cover my high blood pressure prescription. Dr is contesting it. Dr said call him tomorrow to see if they have any samples that he can give me to tide me over until the insurance problem is resolved. Do ya think this is a preview of ObamaCare?
Thank you for yesterday’s thread. I love the Silvery Moon by Doris Day. The oldies are also goodies. :)
Today’s Brother Graphic and Poem were wonderful. Both were so cute and so Warm and Fuzzy.

“Thank you for the wonderful breakfast this morning. I overindulged. :)”
Just how does one overindulge in no-calorie, no-cholesterol, digital dining is beyond me, but take it easy, rest a bit, and keep a bit of something on the side for those late night snackies!
The poem is actually written for those who have fallen in all human endeavors, especially those who stand in harms way for all of us. You might say it is for the quiet heroes, a small benediction for their unselfish sacrifice for us.

Thank you for remembering all who have fallen to keep us safe.
The memorial service for a sherriff’s officer killed last week was held today. The memorial for the other officer will be next week. Law enforcement officers from the entire state joined the funeral procession. I could not watch all of it but it was so very sad to see one of our finest killed by a wacko.

Like the firemen and police of 9/11, the public service people are really outstanding heroes, and we should make a point to emphasize their honor and service to the young. We let the young think MTV types and criminal rappers are heroes, and they miss out on the quiet heroes that guard them, protect them every day, (sometimes from the very criminals they think of as role models!)
In a small way, the poem is my gift to those who have served with ultimate distinction and honor. Those are the role models we should allow for our young, not the airheads and thugs they see too much of today!
