Occupation was also on the 1850 census and, if you were a farmer, how many acres you farmed.

Most folks, even in town, didn't.

Seriously, fewz, do you know what questions we are required by law to fill out?

A local morning talk show is trying to get a Constitutional lawyer to answer that question. It’s WBHP the Toni and Gary show. You can listen on your computer. 6AM to 9AM or free podcast. I’ll also post it if I hear. For myself, I do intend to answer any question that was on the 1850 form except, of course, the one regarding number of slaves owned. I plan to take the Fifth on that question.

REST IN PEACE, FALLEN BROTHER!

LCpl. Garrett W. Gamble, USMC, KIA Afghanistan 11MAR2010

I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)

Eternal Father, Strong to Save

Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in peace!
We who remain hold you in high honor.
Rest, fallen brother, in this sacred precinct;
We who remain keep this place sacred.
Rest, fallen brother, among these, your comrades;
We who remain keep the watch.
Rest, fallen brother, amid these who heeded the Nation’s call;
We who remain press the fight forward in your name.
Rest, fallen brother, lay down thy burden;
We who remain have taken up the torch.
Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in eternal peace!

I loved this! My husband used to play the harmonica and it would make our dog go crazy. (someone told me the harmonica hurt their ears.) I really don’t know myself.

Labs are awfully sweet dogs, they tell me. For me, I love Shelties. I’ve had 2 and they couldn’t love you enough. But they have a lot of hair.

I received my notice a couple of days ago that my census would be arriving in about a week. I heard on t.v. that if we didn’t fill them out correctly, they would come knocking at our door.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had more judges who would tell it like it is! He sure touched every base with that coward, Richard Reid! I wonder what the ‘underwear bomber’ will get!

Wonder if we could find a copy of the census sheet online?

Yeah, I got my notice too. I don’t mind the short form which I have been told most folks will get. I do mind the long form and, if I get one of those, I may try to fight it.

I don’t know, JC. I have seen many different things, regarding the census - and I don’t want to do anything against the law, that’s for sure. But, I also think that some things are private and should be kept private (like my income, if my home is paid for, etc.) IOW, what is required by law? Why doesn’t the gov publish it?

Probably some Fruit of the Loom underwear. And I don’t mean that in a funny way.

I heard all they needed to know is your name and how many people live in your house! Nothing else is their business I heard.
