Ping.
Jesse Jackson is going to say that a black discovered the unpopulated British Isles and was the first human being on the island.
Not surprising, the Roman Empire viewed only one thing “Citizen” or “not Citizen” racial and religious views did not matter, for exampel St. Moritz was African in the area of Switzerland.
What I’d like to know is whether or not her front teeth fell out during her life time or were somehow damaged during discovery?
She looks like a former student of my mother’s who went on to become a Broadway and movie star. She played Daddy Warbucks’ private secretary in the 1990s movie version of Annie. Audra McDonald.
She may have been the wife of a provincial governor or military commander. The Romans liked to create units of mixed origin from all over the Empire to reduce the risk of mutiny. The legions encamped around Hadrian’s Wall north of York were well known to contain Africans and it is likely their blood still runs in British veins.
Excuse me. First line- black Africans.
Second line- north Africans.
These are not interchangeable.
Black Africans - negroid race.
North Africans- Berbers and admixtures
of many ethnic groups for thousands of years.
Maybe the lady in the story just borrowed the her
mistress’s jewelry to play dress up. So what?
No big mystery here. Who ruled Britain in the fourth century? The Romans. The roman empire included North Africa ; apparently one official had a wife from there.

I know Dinka from Southern Sudan who call members of other tribes in Southern Sudan “black” - I know European caucasians who call Romanis “black” who are lighter in skin tone than the Romani..and on it goes.
IN any case if this lady was from North Africa she was not very “black”
“The research used modern forensic ancestry assessment to show it was likely she was of North African descent and may have migrated to York from somewhere warmer.”
Hate to stop there “excitement” but North Africans, particularly back there, were not necessarily “black”.
A lot of North Africans were Berbers, Libyans or Egyptians.
The first two were Caucasian, and the majority of Ancient Egyptians were also,
