Thanks for posting that. I recorded it to watch it this morning. My DVR had the show going from 7:30 to midnight and I didn't extend the ending. So what time was the torch lit? It looks like about 12:03 because they were milling around waiting for it to rise from the floor when my recording ended.

In my younger days I was really into the Olympics. I was obsessed with training and made it to the national level in my chosen sport. I spent some time at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. It was that experience that caused me to realize that all was not as it seemed. For me it has only gotten more political, more media driven, and turned into more of a giant circus since that time.
On a positive note... almost anything that gets people outside doing physical activities is good. Pong didn’t come out until I was a teen, we only had the choice of three TV stations, and a computer was something that took up a whole room so we didn’t have those distractions.

This overproduction is tiresome. The music and the Hollywood theatrics have little to do with athletics. Each Olympics gets more cringe-worthy.
