Hi and welcome to FR. Don’t let our kidding get to you.

But seriously, what did you guys do with Holland? We haven’t heard from them in a long time.

Yeah, but that's because of what used to be our lax advertisement laws. There is a classic flyer where a man is walking down the street with a turkey the size of a house. Pretty tempting when your starving. The starving thing might have something to do with it, but it was mostly the giant turkey ;) (Couldn't find the flyer so here is the modern version)

Gavle jujbocken! Burned early this year.

That's news to me. I hadn't bothered checking, assuming they'd finally figured out a way to fireproof straw. my bad.

I got some use out of this silly thread after all.

My name is Yon Yonson, I come from Wisconsin. I work in a lumber mill there. The people I meet when I walk down the street, they ask me my name and I say: My name is Yon Yonson, I come from Wisconsin. I work in a lumber mill there. I really like Gevalia kaffee. Is it pronounced with a soft G or a hard G?

Yea-va-lia. From the town of Gävle, pronounced Yea-vluh. Where the Yule goat seems to catch fire most years.

Has Sweden ever apologized for the Vikings? It seems that is what all the other “progressives” do.

Who's to apologize to? Wherever the Vikings roamed they bred with the inhabitants. It would be like apologizing to yourself.

As someone who can’t speak Swedish you can always try that. She’ll start laughing because you’ll sound ridiculous. Now you’re suddenly funny! If nothing else it’s a good start.
