Why isn't Free Republic easier to read on my iPhone and iTouch?
When I click on a thread, the type spreads out and it's so small I cannot read it. Why doesn't it format in a narrower column so the font is larger and readable?

I use FR on both an iTouch and a Blackberry and it works great on both. At that, it is the only forum I am on that really works on both. The Touch is pretty easy to modify the window size.

FR for the Window’s mobile sets is fantastic. Clear text, un-cluttered formats and a very easy navigation - even when zoomed in.
If you have Safari for the iPhone, try another browser. That will tell you where the problem lies.
And most things about the Blackberry are difficult.

A FReeper app. That’d be cool.

Its no treat on the latest Blackberry either! On my Pearl, the left and right columns overlap, blocking out the center column that has the threads listed. Settings changes have no affect. And neither the default browser or Opera Mini work well.
