Send The Light
Become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. —Philippians 2:15

American businessman Mark Bent has spent $250,000 to develop and manufacture an affordable solar-powered flashlight. Thousands have been distributed free or at low cost to people living in African refugee camps. One daily solar charge provides 7 hours of life-giving illumination for people in homes, schools, and medical clinics where darkness had encouraged crime and violence.

The contrast between darkness and light is a prominent image in the Bible’s presentation of Jesus the Messiah. “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined” (Isa. 9:2). “In [Jesus] was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” (John 1:4-5).

It’s our privilege as followers of Jesus to be His light-bearers today. Paul urged the Christians in Philippi to become “blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” (Phil. 2:15).

Instead of being afraid or oppressed by the spiritual darkness around us, we can rely on the grace that God gives His children to shine for Him.

Lord, may I be a shining light
For all the world to see
Your goodness and Your love displayed
As You reach out through me. —Sper

Jesus came to give light to a dark world.

I have been hearing about all the snow in Texas and especially Dallas. Looks like your son got quite a bit of the white stuff.

My hairdresser’s son and wife live in Dallas and she was telling me that her son was expecting 5-6 inches...don’t know what they got. I had called her to cancel my appointment by the way. Had to get my neighbor to take me on a few errands because it was frozen ice on the driver’s side of car, underneath the carport! I am very tired of the weather but I’m not in charge and shouldn’t complain.

I talked with my friend near Austin last night, and she said they’re soaking wet. And, the snow in Dallas/Ft.Worth - is that normal?

We’re concerned about flooding, when the record snowfall in Flagstaff melts in the spring. (They’ve already had 107” and there are two more months of winter at that altitude. 109” is the average.)

Dallas snow amount is not normal!

I am amazed that we still have white patches and white roofs..It isn’t below freezing. I am over 2 hours south of Dallas.
I know large snow melt can cause serious problems . Of course there are no areas here where snow accumulates.

““What is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” (v.14)James __________________________________________________________

So is a breath ... every breath is a gift of God as is every heartbeat. Moment to moment.

We are much to arrogant in our careless attention to praising God, and following His commandments, as Jesus did.

“Become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. —Philippians 2:15”

__________________________________________________________

there was a time when I thought we aged and grew wiser (hopefully), that I prayed to be a beacon of light to the world. In my ordinary life.

Now I see the subduing of Christianity, and the persecution of all things Christian, and realize I am at best a feeble light. Or perhaps a light in a closet. Let us have trust in God that it is His light that shines in us where ever and whenever we happen to be. I kept thinking it was up to me. Now I know it is God that we are to trust to shine through us.

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
