Mornin’, Polly, and thank you!
You know, I found a poem yesterday called “Queen of the West”; about Dale Evans. It would have been perfect to post, but at the very bottom of the poem, it said that it was copyrighted and could not be posted without written permission from the author.
Here is the link to it, (scroll down - it’s near the bottom of the page).

I remember the days of my childhood, with Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Gene Autry, The Lone Ranger - and then the series Gunsmoke.
Where did all the cowboys go?

I remember when they would make the malt in those big stainless steel containers, pour it in a tall glass with straw and spoon, and then would let you have the ‘leftovers’.......
When I was a kid, every Sunday after church, we would go to Kippy’s for a hamburger, fries and malt (in Akron, OH). They would wrap the burger in crinkly paper, and to this day, I’ve not tasted a burger as good as Kippy’s, or a malt as wonderful. (The burger was 25 cents!)

I can remember a burger joint in Billings Montana that served these small burgers, you got each for a dime, and a bag of a dozen cost you a dollar. We’d take them by the bag full to the drive-ins, and eat like kings for a buck!
Come to think of it, they had that crinkly paper too! I sort of think we were conditioned to get hungry if we heard paper crinkle in that way, Pavlov Mutts for sure.

Those sound like White Castle Sliders, Johnn. I make them at home, like this:
White Castle Klones
(And, yes! I use the jar of baby food - and hot dog buns cut in thirds.)

Our little burger joint was called Max’s Meat House, never saw a White Castle until I moved to Minnesota when I got married. Love little burgers, the flavor just seems richer somehow.

Billie, everytime I turn on my computer, I am surprised by something. Sometimes that 'surprise' tugs at my heart-strings, or brings tears to my eyes, other times a smile, and then, when I least expect it, a laugh out loud.
But it always makes me think.

Hope all are feeling way better today after yorkie faxed you her "good-for-whatever-ails-you" chicken soup!
fewz, I hope you shared your 'easy' chicken soup recipe yesterday - have not gotten to it yet if you did. :)

Oh oh. I should have checked the link before I posted. I just ‘assumed’ you were talking about Amy’s little girl in post 566. But the ‘little cow-hand’ in JC’s post is a cutie, too!

That looks like green beans on a burger! ... And I thought I was the only one strange enough to do that, with fresh french cut, steamed green beans. Mmmm, good eats (sorry Alton).
