Since you brought us the ‘Obama Car for fun, may I input the following joke.
40 YEARS OF MARRIAGE....
A married couple in their early 60s was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant.
Suddenly, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table. She said, ‘For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish.’
The wife answered, ‘Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband. The fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! - two tickets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands.
The husband thought for a moment: ‘Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I’m sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me.
The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish. So the fairy waved her magic wand and poof!...the husband became 92 years old.
The moral of this story: Men who are ungrateful bastards should remember fairies are female.......
THE LOCKLESS DOORIf this were my poem, the cage would be my heart, and the door would be the opportunity for love.
by: Robert Frost (1874-1963)
It went many years,
But at last came a knock,
And I thought of the door
With no lock to lock.
I blew out the light,
I tip-toed the floor,
And raised both hands
In prayer to the door.
But the knock came again
My window was wide;
I climbed on the sill
And descended outside.
Back over the sill
I bade a Come in
To whoever the knock
At the door may have been.
So at a knock
I emptied my cage
To hide in the world
And alter with age.
With trepidation, with fear, he bade entry to that which would fulfill him.
With reluctant optimism, he went out into the harsh world, hiding his fragility, and becoming something he could not forestall, a mature human being.
"Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.
Well, for example, the other day I went downtown and into a shop. I was only there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, 'Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break'? He ignored me and continued writing the ticket.
I called him a 'Nazi.' He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a 'doughnut eating Gestapo.' He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first.
Then he wrote a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I verbally abused him the more tickets he wrote.
Personally, I didn't care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said, 'I ♥ Obama.'
I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. It's important to my health."
Thanks NNB: Another good interpretation. That poem had me so mixed up this morning that I just started searching. There was analysis after analysis. And each one sounded fairly well. I had fun doing it as its sorta good for the brain. (I may not have found out about Robert Frost’ trouble reading his poetry at JFK’s inauguration.) Thanks, Bob.
Now that joke is a keeper!
The Obama car is painted with eco-friendly dyes.
GM, under the guidance of car czar Ed Begley Jr. unveiled a prototype of the new Obama Car or O-car, an automobile designed by GM (Government Motors) with input from ACORN, labor unions, and the Santa Cruz Women's Study department. Special features include:
1. Runs on fetal stem cells.
2. Comes with choice of anti-Bush bumper stickers.
3. Radio pre-tuned to NPR, Native American ceremonial chants, and C-Span Book Talk. Unfortunately, this being a modern car, legacy technology like AM radio is unavailable.
4. GPS programmed with coffee houses, independent movie theaters, animation festivals, day care centers, modern art galleries, and other liberal points of interest. Comes with gender-neutral “yellowtooth” technology. The 12cm. screen plays public service announcements during stops and alerts readers to nearby protests and teach-ins.
5. Overhead pocket distributes both condoms and “denal dams.”
6. “Gay friendly” center console.
7. Reverse OnStar monitors in-car conversations for “hate” speech.
8. Each car comes with a residence-independent drivers license.
9. Convenient storage compartments for Birkenstocks. piercings, and pot.
10. External camera automatically records all police interactions.
11. Metric system-only gauges.
12. Seats a village of 4.
The car is priced at 10% of an individual’s yearly income. Those without income will receive a car subsidized by new taxes on guns, rosaries, Bibles, NASCAR tickets, the History channel, Tom Clancy books, and merit badges.
Your interpretation makes sense. I could only think of a mind that was not ready to venture into the sane world.
Good one, yorkie, I liked that one.
LOL, Johnn....very good!
Where is this sane world you mention? It sounds like an interesting place.
“Where is this sane world you mention? It sounds like an interesting place.”
It does soun d interesting, probably conservative in nature, has real values, and personal responsibility for one’s own actions.
aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! Heaven!
Did you happen to read my post to you about what I did today re: Poem and Robert Frost??
Going to bed now friends! Have a wonderful evening. Some of you are still in the 8 o’clock zone....LOL! And I’m in the bedtime zone!
Me, too, JC!
It was a long day, today, but I’m home safe and sound, with a new hair style that I just LOVE!
I hope you had a good day - and no snow (about time!)
I read this, Jaycee.
I think the Death analyses also makes sense. It would be interesting to know what Robert Frost was really writing about, wouldn’t it?
I did not remember Robert Frost reading a poem at JFK’s inauguration. Guess that I was not really very political then.
Hi Jaycee, I just watched the video and it was GREAT! Loved the music and of course, where they sang it. I used to be a big fan of Alan Jackson. Thanks for doing that! Can you picture all of us being there. I sure can!
What time are we all leaving? LOL!!!!
Hi Amy, Hope you will be able to hear it before tomorrow(Tuesday)!
Hi Amy, What beautiful flowers and frame! I now picture myself wearing those flowers behind my right ear -—— in Hawaii, like NOW would work. Thank you!
"As with most of us, sweet peas bring back fond memories.
My grandmother always had sweet peas.
Oh ... what a wonderful fragrance."
Amy, and Lori, thank you for your beautiful opening, today, at post 1512.
Robert Frost has always been a favorite of mine,
But I didn't have time to think or analyze his poem, today.
Amy, you posted such special graphics, today
(#'s 1537, 1539, 1546, 1547 and 1549.)
Thank you for all you do, for all of us,
In such a thoughtful and considerate way!
((((((((((((Ms. Amy)))))))))))
Oh, JC, that is such a BEAUTIFUL graphic! I wish I could touch those flowers, right now, and give Thanks for the Beauty God has granted us!
