Hey FRiend,
LOL, My hubby just went to the desciption of this evening’s AI and on Dish Network they described it this way: “Staring Ellen Degeneres and some other people.” I kid you not!

I've got to give credit to guest mentor Usher here. He gave the contestants lots of good advice, especially about performance skills, and as such, the average performance level rose well above previous weeks, more so than the purging of dead wood would indicate.
Not a whole lot of shake-up in my overall rankings. I still think it's a Siobhan vs. Crystal race, with everyone else jockeying for position, but the second tier isn't as far behind as they used to be. As always, there are overall standings, not just for last night:
- (last week 2) Crystal - Solid, consistent, but I still don't sense a "wow" factor from her. At all. Not her best performance this week (see really did seem uncomfortable behind the piano), but good enough to temporarily take over the #1 spot.
- (last week 1) Siobhan - I knew consistency would eb an issue, and here she had her first real "off" night. It really didn't work as well as it could have (and the lower register stuff betrayed just how much the nerves got to her), but here's hoping she'll bounce back string next week.
- (last week 3) Casey - As with Crystal, it's a consistent level of performance that just doesn't have any star quality -- I never get any sense of "Casey" in anything he sings, he just morphs into whatever he sings and stays within a comfort zone. (I think someone on here said "one man tribute band", which pretty much nails it.)
- (last week 4) Michael - Big Mike needed a good performance, and he got it this week. Maybe a teeny bit over the top in a couple of places, but on the whole, it worked, and solidified last week's move up.
- (last week 6) Lee - Good performance this week. Can he keep it up and find some way of standing out?
- (last week 5) Didi - Didi's biggest strength and her biggest weakness is her emotion. She needs to find a balance between infusing her singing with the emotion without letting it overcome her. This week, she swung too far into the "control" side, and as such, the performance was pretty flat. Better at the end, but by then, I'm sure most folks mentally tuned out.
- (last week 8) Katie - I thought she did better than the judges said she did. She's still not quite ready for prime time, but I'm looking forward to seeing how she improves as an artist after the tour.
- (last week 7) Aaron - As with Katie, Aaron just doesn't have the stage maturity to convincingly deliver, despite having a pretty good voice... another one to keep an eye on after the tour. He'll last longer than he should, according to my rankings, because the tween girls like him.
- (last week 9) Andrew - Best performance in the live shows yet. Not enough to move him up on the overall chart; maybe if he makes it two weeks in a row. Not a good sign when his mama is more entertaining than he is.
- (last week 10) Tim - You've survived this long because of some horrific performances below you, but your day of reckoning should be at hand. If the audience actually votes the way they should, at least.
===========
Voted off #11 (my rank: 11) Paige - Seems like a nice girl, but just not ready for this; even without the voice problems, song selection was awful.
Voted off #12 (my rank: 12) Lacey - Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
