DialIdol doesn’t seem to be working like it has in the paat - wonder if they have a lot more lines open now - making it tough to actually get busy signals. Voted a lot for Siobhan and never once got a busy.

parsy, who says never count Razorbacks out !!! Whooooo Pig Sooooie!!

Woo Pig Soooie, even with the new ticket prices. Hey Jeff Long, in the middle of the worst recession since the Great Dpresssion, let's raise prices. Yeah, that's the ticket....(pun intended)

IIRC, one little church group got over 100,000 calls out in one session. But since AT&T was also a sponsor for AI, it went kinda hushy in a hurry.

I heard all those stories, if true, even if one could get ten votes with one push of a button, wow! 38,000.000?

No, I don’t think we ever discussed Tapestry.

Me too. Just watched it on YouTube. This girl is really good. Great voice and she has a stage presence that is unusual. She is never boring. Simon is gonna regret that review when he watches the recording of the performance.

You really think they pre-write their critiques?

Why do you say that?

Randy is almost imbecilic this season “Yo, yo, yo...dog” and not much more.

Kara is irritating and Ellen is weird, there’s something very wrong with her.

Simon is great, as usual.

Randy doesn't seem to be having much fun this year, does he? I think Paula was high energy, brought them all up. And she was willing to argue. Not much laughter this year. Ironic, since they added a comedian.

So, what's this about Crystal being diabetic? The way she sat down for the judges tonight looked like back pain to me. I admire her more every week, she's a fighter. Personally, I don't like the Joplin comparison, you know? Hate to see an awesome girl compared to a doped up suicide. I think she's more Joni Mitchell, Mama Cass, early Carly Simon. Modern old school somehow. I love her, and Lily, and Siobhan.

Tonight felt like a memo went out to pick sad songs. These girls are too young to be so serious, and I'm too old to listen to it! Need to hear some "While We're Young and Beautiful", some attitude, you know? Watching Glee right after emphasized the lack of star power in 6 of 8, and the somber mood! Hope they mix it up next week.

Better! Thanks!

Interestingly, I am actually kinda of looking forward to tonight. There are actually a few good story lines in play even if the overall talent is miles behind the girls.

1. Can Big Mike back up last week’s breakout and maybe put his name in the discussion just behind Crystal and Siobhan?

2. Can Andrew bring his game back or is he destined to be this years Sundance?

3. Can Lee keep his upward momentum and stamp himself as this year’s dark horse?

4. Can Casey bring his game back up and avoid following Andrew into the pit of Also-rans?

5. Will Alex, Tim, or Aaron do anything remotely talented?

6. Will Todrick go full tilt bozo and give us a taste of his Mad Choreography skillz???? hehehehe

Still, no matter what the Guys do, this season is already boiling down to a battle between Crystal and Siobhan. There will also be one of that second tier of singers that will be this years “Most improved” and make a run toward the top — not sure who that will be yet.

President Pompadour and Cleopatra--LOL!

I suspect Dumby's parole officer isn't really a parole officer. (Dumby's dad maybe?)

LOL!

I think one of them is doomed no matter what happens this week. The sympathy vote is running thin.

Okay, without having read anyone's witty comments yet, her'e my breakdown for last night:

  1. Siobhan - Quirky girl really does have a big voice. Nice rendition of the song and one of the few things I'll remember. Easy winner of the night.
  2. Didi - I like Didi, and she did a credible, if not particularly memorable job here. I think she could have a reasonable run once the cookie cutter contestants start dropping out.
  3. Crystal - Something bugs me about Crystal, and that doesn't even include concerns over her health (she needed to sit for critique -- that never happens!), but I can't place a finger on it. Good bluesy style, but nothing that really screams "different" or "relevant".
  4. Katie - 4th through 6th is pretty much a toss-up for me, they all had major weaknesses. I'll put Katie at the top of the group because she's trying, bless her heart, to find a personality, but she's got a great voice. (Side note: hey, Ellen, how can it be the right song choice and not fit her at the same time?)
  5. Lilly - I completely disagree with the judges. There was no contemporary feel to this at all, it came across as karaoke to me.
  6. Katelyn - Um, no. Especially the hair. Not a great song choice and not particularly well delivered. And yet she's a far sight better than the two that followed...
  7. Lacey - I want to like you. Really, I do. But your three live performances have actually made me start to hate you. As a person. For making me go through that. Now go home.
  8. Paige - That was... really, really bad. Pitch problems, bad song choice, no confidence. If you have any desire to really do this, pray to be voted off, work with a quality vocal coach, and try next year.

” I think he knows she’s got more to give, and is pushing her to create something memorable...

Interesting point. “

Also, Simons all about recording contracts. We are about who can sing......

He wants that “ memory moment” so it fits with a name, a contract, and $$$$$$

That applies for Crystal also.

LOL, you forgot:

7) Will Kara give up her seat and just start sitting in Simon’s lap?

8) Are Ellen and Seacrest actually sharing the same wardrobe?

9) Are Alex and Tim secretly one person under different wigs?

10) If you cut Crystal’s dreads, does she lose her musical superpowers?

You really think they pre-write their critiques? Why do you say that?

Two seasons ago at the point when contestants have to sing two songs Paula started critiquing someone's, can't remember who, I think it was Elliot Yamin, second song that he had not sung yet.
