I think that was just an excuse because she didn’t like what he did for a living (made her uncomfortable) or she didn’t like how he looked. She was a jerk really.

He's a pastor, married for 7 years with three kids. Kara and Avril express concern that he can go through with this and not be distracted by his family obligations.~~~~~~~~~~~
Came to this thread this morning just to comment on this. Avril Lavigne shows up with Devil horns than votes "no" on a guy who is a Pastor (and who kicked ass on his audition) because of concerns that he wouldn't be able to juggle all that he has going on in his life?
Funny, I don't remember her, or any other judge, expressing such concerns about, for instance ... any of the destitute, inner city, single moms we've seen make it through to Hollywood.
My "Christian bigotry" detector started beeping like crazy over this.

Here is the video....Different clothes and no buttons. Dressed by the AI staff?? Hm.
He might have been waiting to audition on the first day when that video was taken. If the Idol editing is to be believed, he didn't audition until the end of the second day. But that is a big change in appearance. He went from no buttons and a generic t-shirt, to a message t-shirt and at least two buttons, plus the Africa hat and wristbands.
And the Idol sticker on his chest in the video is much smaller than the one above. Who knows ...
