It's officially 2010 and we want it to be a healthy year. Chocolate is one of those treats that many people crave, and their weight suffers because of it. No more. Try these chocolate treats that won't add on pounds. Instead of going for chocolate substitutes, we recommend the real deal.
Amy Brightfield of Woman's Day has compiled her favorite chocolate snacks, and she's definitely on the mark. Dark chocolate, as she points out, is much better than a lollipop or salt water taffy (or Nerds Rope, or jelly beans...you get the point), and chocolate containing over 60% cacao also happens to be lower in calories.
Brightfield's recommendations include:
Dove Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate Singles - Have a real friend hide the rest if you buy the bigger bar, or get the smaller version at 190 calories for the whole thing. 71% cacao.
Raisinets - Fruit and nut done right, especially if you split the small bag of dark chocolate ones.
Green & Blacks Organic Chocolate - some of the tastiest, highest quality dark chocolate out there. You can get a 70% cacao bar that weighs in at 190 calories.
Dear lord, where have I been? Is there a chocolate ping list ;)
Now, THAT’S funny
“Can’t we all just get along?” ;)
I’ve had those. Very, very good. :)
Great! Just what we need...the medical community getting involved with prescribing chocolate for various ailments! You see where this is headed, don’t you?
First they came for the smokers... ;)
I’m back, Pete! And I’ll never change my tagline again. :)
Have you tried the Lindt Dark Chocolate with Lemon and Pepper? It’s out of this world.
The Lindt chocolate infused with chile rocks...a great way for chileheads to satisfy their chocolate craving at the same time.
Yes, there is. You’re on it. :)
We don’t do Christmas stuff, other than our tree and store decorations. We’ve got to empty our seed jars and get the greenhouse recovered. Haven’t had any good weather. Been rainy— and cold and windy, and neither works well for handling large sheets of plastic. :) So much for globull warming. 25 feels like 13 today, wind gusting out of the north @ 30.
I’ve got to get some cabbage and broccoli started but I’m not really in a hurry. It’s been such a WET fall, I have a feeling it’s going to be a long wet cold spring. State of NC has finally decided, in its infinite wisdom, and after close to 30 inches of rainfall in the last couple of months, that we’re no longer in drought conditions. Ya think?!
THAT did it.
A friend sent me some Belgian chocolate truffles....
one less, now. Trying to ration.
OK, now that looks spectacular. How are those made?
Oh, please, put me on the list too.
I agree now, but back when I was pregnant with baby #1 it might have been hazardous to your health to get between me and the pork rinds and Hershey’s. ;)
No,but I certainly will.
I’m also a lover of the white chocolate with coconut. Yum
I never even heard of it but will start my search this week.
Sounds interesting,to say the least.
Whoo Hoo! I now reside in ChocolateVille.
My question eggsactly!
Ditto! ...a box with 5 layers of truffles.
one less, now. Trying to ration.
Gave up!... have one layer left! :)
