As a science fiction movie, it achieves its goal; as a story telling vehicle, it falls just a little bit short.
Science fiction IS storytelling, you boob.

I was considering going to see it tonight but when I checked the listings it appears that THE ROAD starts tonight!!!!!
Screw Avatar!!

No one’s calling you a boob. But you did post the quote, and it was to the quote that I responded.
“I was considering going to see it tonight but when I checked the listings it appears that THE ROAD starts tonight!!!!!”
The Road has been out for a long time. Where do you live, the Appalachians?
The Road is on a slow roll release. So far it’s widest is 396 theaters.
It was a quote from the full article-Boob

Yes, I know. I looked. I posted to you since you were the one who posted it first. Then I used the word “boob,” obviously addressing myself to the author of the quote which I also posted.
I suppose I could have gone back and posted to the originator of the article, but I REALLY don’t think I broke eittiquette. If I had a dime for every time someone posted to me without directly addressing me, I’d have a good 2 bucks.
Yeah, ok, perhaps I was a bit hasty. Have a good weekend!
I'm guessing that someone is a bit worried over whether this thing will break even. They need to make all their money QUICKLY, before the buzz dies.
Let me guess - No blacks, muslims, or latinos in the space marine invasion force, right? I’m sure the marines went in there saying ‘God’s will be done,’ right?
Is this a movie where I did something wrong again?
“Have a good weekend!”
Likewise.
REALLY????
Dang it! I was waiting for some promotion or something. Actually I’m in a rockband and I live from town to town most of the time. Half the time I really couldn’t tell you where I’m at to be perfectly honest.
“I was waiting for some promotion or something”
I think the movie was supposed to come out last year, then was pushed back, then got shelved for sometime in 2009. All this pushing back suggests the studio has no faith in it being a blockbuster, isn’t sure how to successfully market it, and perhaps that it isn’t very good. But I have heard good things, and it did come out in Oscar Season, so who knows?
“After the first ten minutes, I’m yelling at the movie screen, “JUST SINK ALREADY!””
I did the same thing during “Pearl Harbor.” I leaned over and whispered to my wife, “I wish they would just drop some bombs and get ON with it!”
I’ve grown to utterly detest CGI movies without an original story, without original, interesting characters, and without compelling dialog. You’ve seen one, you’ve seen ‘em all. You might as well be watching a video game.
I won’t even pay a buck at a Red Box to see this one. Give me a “Dexter”, “True Blood”, “Sopranos”, or “Deadwood” over any of the recycled Hollywood dreck being pumped out these days.
I actually went and saw the movie again. I have to say the story is not bad...and is well acted and well laid out. This is not Star Wars...which Lucas made all but unwatchable. I have watched this twice in a row, and enjoyed both times. Is it predicatable? Sure...but still very enjoyable.

We just got back from the first matinee showing, and this is one picture you will not want to miss on the big screen. To say that is is stunning does not do it justice. This is a shoe-in for Best Picture, and every single other technical award that it is nominated for.
Fantastic movie, simply the best I’ve seen in a long, long time...
Not that I (will) agree with the review, but to remark on a point it touches upon: ATHEIST Lefties loooove to show/watch down-trodden, SPIRITUAL natives stickin' it to the Man.
Just got back from seeing the 3D version. Completely stunning.
