It’s not just a matter of acting chops thought, there’s also the physical nature of a role. Sure DiCaprio is a skilled actor, but if you put him in a “traditional” Viking get up it’s going to be funny, he’s just not physically believable as a shirtless blond haired scourge of the seas. Kind of like casting James Gandolfini as a ballet dancer, not every body type works for every role.

Ever see ‘This Boy’s Life’ or ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape’? He’s a good actor.

You started your 2nd para with a statement about how you don’t care for his politics.

I don’t see how you can write things and not know it...must be a deficiency on your part.

Do you realize those movies were made like 17 years ago when he was a kid? Might as well talk about Mickey Rooney’s career then.

I think Leo has some shining moments for sure. I would give him an A+ for example in Catch Me If You Can. But when I watched him in The Aviator, The Departed, The Beach, Body of Lies, and Blood Diamond... I found his acting to be of someone who overacts for the sake of overacting.

DiCaprio as a Viking? Probably won’t be acting the role of Brett Favre.

Onward from “The Aviator”: yet untested and maybe even yet unseen power and range.

DiCaprio can actually act. See “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape & The Departed”.

I don’t know about that but Brad Pitt in a toga was worth the price of admission.

“I don’t see how you can write things and not know it...must be a deficiency on your part.”

Comprehension. Look it up, it’s something you need to work on. You come at me with a snarky tone about a comment I made, and infer that my observation about his politics had something to do with his acting skill. I don’t like Tiger Woods’ cheating on his wife. Does that mean I think Tiger can’t golf well?

Does it?

The reason I included the comment about DiCaprio’s politics is that in the enjoyment of an entertainer, what they make public about themselves can affect the audience, in this case me. I don’t care for DiCaprio’s political views, and Mr. DiCaprio isn’t shy about sharing his views. This causes me not to enjoy watching him as much, because I know that’s part the person. Just as I will not enjoy watching Tiger Woods near as much now, because of what has become public.

Your trollish behavior is tiresome.
This lesson is over.

So if saying...’I don’t see how politics has much to do with his job?’ is snarky, then I suppose your comments were just complimentary?

If your skin is that thin, perhaps you should find a kinder, more gentle forum? Merry Christmas
