Hollywood actor and director Mel Gibson's next directing project will be an as-yet untitled film about Vikings, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, "Variety" reported on Monday.
Gibson is to direct DiCaprio in an untitled period drama set during Viking times, according to the film industry bible, which reported that veteran script writer William Monahan also has signed on to the project.

DiCaprio as a Viking....hahahahahahahaha!!! I’m sure this “Viking” movie will rank right up there with “The Saga of the Viking Women.”
back when the world was much warmer
If it’s a viking movie, what role does DiCaprio play? The galley boy that all the vikings use as their b**ch?
Not sure how to feel about this. Somehow, I think Mel will have a lot easier time getting this movie distributed now that he’s fallen from grace.
I know you aren’t much of a diCaprio fan, & neither am I. Never saw Titanic except for the last 10 or so minutes.
But I was watching the Aviator the other night & I have to admit that he did a good job as Howard Hughes. I’ll wait to see if he can do a Viking.
Here we go!
Gibson is a great director( Braveheart), but an immoral hypocrite in his personal life. So will his work suffer? Should it, if it’s exemplary?
And DiCaprio( aka- the Pillsbury Doughboy) as a VIKING?
Uhhhh- lost me right there. Might be a great film, but lets have Viking looking Vikings please!
Hell-Rosie O’Donnell would be a more credible Viking!
Leo as a viking? Righttttt....
Next you’ll tell me that they’ll cast Brad Pitt as Achilles.
Oh wait...
ping
Hmmm, upon further thought...
Vikings were Norwegians, right? Surely there must have been some short-ish, insipid-looking Norwegians. Somehow I don’t think they’d have lasted long as Vikings.
Ships cook maybe. I don’t think we want to see Vikings with girly-mon ‘diversions’ aboard their ships, but then who would complain these days about a swishy Viking?
Now -—wait-—Elin Woods, Viking warrior...
Did you see Troy? It was a pretty good adaptation!
I think I know what the plot line may be...this bunch of Viking traders get screwed out of some gold and other loot by some Jews and then spend the rest of the movie searching for them at Bar Mitzvahs up and down the Scottish, Irish and Normandy coasts. Am I close?
Nah, too many red flags on that one. I might rent it now.
LOL
Who knows? The only reason I can think of to cast the soft Leo DiCaprio in a Viking movie is maybe, just maybe, the film is a Norse adaptation of “Brokeback Mountain”.
Maybe they are going to call it “Brokeback Fjord”.
His work in “The Departed” wasn’t too bad either.
DiCaprio as a Viking? Has Mel lost his mind? Somebody better get him off the Sydney sauce.
Does anyone remember that? What a great adventure story!!
Anyway, it is time for the NEA graduated idiots to see a real account of Western civilization (which I am pretty sure is Mel's object) in selecting this topic.
Lots of brash and boisterous tough guy stuff, but basically correct on the part played by Europeans in the development of their OWN culture. I am willing to bet Europeans will NOT be represented as mindless, knuckle-scraping Neanderthals arbitrarily brutalizing all and sundry. There was a great deal of significance to the 'Viking' piece of the Western Culture equation. It's TIME for this!!!Can't wait!!...(much as I dislike DiCaprio)
