Filthy rags are also bloody menstrual rags or pads because they were something that would be disgarded...something polluted.....legally unclean like a leper..something a Jew could not go near..was forbidden under punishment of death or banishment...
Isaiah used words that would be understood...so the people would have no trouble understanding just where their useless “works” stood with the God of the Bible...
All the works in the world for a lifetime are not enough...Salvation canmnot be bought by currying favor with God through works...
