Don’t jump to conclusions. It’s not that the retailers are closed-minded. It’s their customers who are closed-minded.
Well, okay. Some of the retailers are closed-minded too. “Our customers are thinking people,” said Nathan Embretson, a bookseller at Pendragon Books in Oakland. “They’re not into reading drivel.” There’s not a single copy on the shelf. Embretson said no one has asked for it except for one guy, who was kidding. “He said he wanted to look at it but he also said he didn’t really want to read it,” Embretson said. “Anyway, he certainly didn’t want to buy it. I think he regarded looking at it as a kind of punishment.”… Had she ordered 50 copies of the book, Cotleur said, she would probably wind up shipping 50 copies of the book back to the publisher in a couple of weeks.

Nathan sounds like a snotty, smug little man, but I support his store's right to sell, or not sell, whatever books it wants. If he commits economic suicide in the process, however, it'll make me smile.
Don’t you remember and don’t you understand? The “FREE SPEECH” movement by Mario Savio began in the Bay Area in 1964 at the famous “free thinking” institution called the University of California at Berkeley. Of course, this was freedom to loudly cuss and use 4-letter words, hate the government, spit on the military, be foul in public and otherwise obnoxious to any law-abiding citizens. Those who disagreed with them (such as Gov. Palin and perhaps you and me) are not entitled to any speech, whatsoever, as theirs is not “free speech” since they are in disagreement with the brilliant unwashed and therfore, not worthy of consideration. If that doesn’t make sense to you, well tough.
I know some Marines who would love to watch.
Costco has them....I encourage everyone to buy a book even if you don't read it....lets put her on the Bestseller list.....
I bought her book today at Borders. They had it for 30% off, 40% off with a Borders members card (which I have).

I was surprised at first over the price reduction. But then I realized it had more to do with the economy than anything. Places like Borders, or any book vendor for that matter, should be thankful they have such a popular item right now. She’s outselling everyone; and rightfully so.”

The only books selling now are by Conservatives it seems. The rest of them go begging. I get e-mail discounts from all the big retailers every single day and delete them.
Displays of James Patterson’s new book were full to the brim. That was the only one I compared to. Sarah’s table was well picked over. It was as though there had been a recent run on them and employees had yet to rearrange things. I kinda smiled...
I’m no longer a Patterson fan. The most recent one I read (not this new one) had pointed digs at Republicans. Earlier but recent ones had similar, material, unrelated to the narrative. I’ll not buy another, nor pick one up at the library.

Very true. It’s a pass on explaining away the obvious to contorted, non-sensical theories that cause the “masses” to scratch their heads and alliances with those who hold no priorities other than their own. The “progressive’s” path is one that would lead them to be eaten at a young age were they any other species.

Apparently they're perfectly free, as is Nathan here, to comment on it despite not having read it. That may be a lot of things, but "thinking person" isn't one of them.
Ah, the beauty of the free market. Many of these stores will go out of business in the next few years.

Same thing happened to me. Had to order the book from them because they had only received two copies Can not remember what the book was that wanted at the time. It was a conservative best seller. Barnes and Noble Phoenix
Yeah, they’re going to punish Palin fans, by making them go to Wal-Mart, Costco, or Amazon.com to buy it (for less). Great business strategy.

Nathan Embretson has been active in environmental groups throughout California for many years. He has worked with local groups as they create localized economies, as well with international groups such as The International Forum on Globalization, which is a proggressive(sic) think tank dedicated to solutions for climate change. Book’s a Million charged her over $30 (after taxes). I told her I just saw it at Sam’s for just over $17. She returned the book to B-a-M and went to Sam’s to purchase the $17 one...One consolation though...while returning the book to B-a M she ran across a book about Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan (by Nicholas Wapshott) and purchased it for $1. Haven’t read it yet but for a dollar what have I to lose...
