DaVinci died of atherosclerosis—and he was a vegetarian. He had discovered the disease in the bodies he had dissected, which is why he became a vegetarian. However, even he died of it—albeit old.

Thanks decimon. [creaking noise, anthropoid sarcophagus opens, a bandaged hand emerges, clutching an ancient scroll] "Hey look, a joke in hieroglyphics... uh, translates as, 'people who study mummies aren't wrapped too tight.'" /rimshot

Can you imagine getting heart disease back then? You’re pretty much screwed, unless you want stone surgical instruments tinkering around in your insides while you’re still conscious.

This is like saying, "Death was found among Egyptian mummies, leading to the conclusion that it is not a modern problem!". We have the highest life expectancy(other than those found in the bible)at any time in recorded history(we being the human race as a whole)yet these idiots think somehow modern man/woman have somehow invented new diseases that didn't exist thousands of years ago.

Death has always been with us and will always be with us, so will disease of one type or another.

I saw a mummy at the University of PA museum in 1976. The card said that the person had evidence of varicose veins and infected gums.

That’s when I decided to not worry about those things any more.
