I coudnt say what, exactly, Bruno was burned for, except that it was heresy. He did, I gather, believe in an infinite number populated worlds. He was also a heliocentrist and a pantheist. So he could have been burned for any number of moral failings.
100% correct. They had plenty of reasons to execute Bruno. Not the least of which were his direct insults to the Pope.

Question is: Why did we need saving. Then did/do aliens need saving ... maybe we’re the only species that God intervened. The aliens listened to Him in the first place ... it appears we didn’t - therefore -

Giggle factor aside, the question of whether Jesus would save aliens goes right to the heart of Christian beliefs.Sorry, but the "giggle factor" can't be set aside. The whole premise is a joke constructed by those who take sick pleasure in mocking Christians.

IMHO, there is a multitude of life in the universe. And it doesn't diminish my faith one bit.

In other words, you believe that insulting the Pope warrants the death penalty.

Of course the "life beyond earth" is of an infidel nature and therefore must suffer the same fate as earth-bound infidels. An easy procedure -- most ET I've seen have real skinny necks. Alien worlds, assuming these exist, are by definition Dar al-Harb if not under Islam. Infidels. Either convert, shut up and pay jizya, or die.

No. But apparently it was a capitol offense in the middle ages.

You would have fit in quite well with Europeans 1000 years ago.Though you didn't mean that as one, I'll take that as a compliment. Thank you.
Now go reread the entire article. Do you not understand the reason for the glib premise? And did you not pick up that condescending tone the Timesonline reporter keeps using?
You're being mocked. But I'm glad it doesn't diminish your faith one bit.

Exactly. If there are aliens, and they manage to overcome light speed and reach this planet, and they choose to communicate to us, I will ask them what they think about it.

In his view, the possibility of other civilisations - potentially more intelligent than our own - puts Christians in a real bind.
Balderdash. I'm a Christian, and I have no problem believing that there may be other races out there somewhere. As a matter of fact, I find the possibility fascinating. God is a big God, and certainly capable of creating other races of beings in something as vast as our universe if he so desires.
