In honor of Halloween, I have assembled two lists. One holds a ranking of the ten best slashers of all time. While these characters were awesome, that does not necessarily mean that any of their respective movies were any good. So my other list looks solely at the movies, and which come in tops. The list of the best slashers will be published tomorrow (Saturday) on hometownstation.com. Today though, we'll take a stab (please pardon the pun I know it's bad) at identifying the ten best horrors movies...ever.
TOPICS: Music/Entertainment; TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: halloween; hollywood; moviereview

Exorcist scares my kids more than anything...they know evil does indeed live.

"6. Army of Darkness. Undoubtedly the zenith of the entire art of cinema. How it could have been ignored at the Academy Awards I haven't a clue. Shop smart!" Have you ever seen the alternate ending for Army of Darkness? Way different than what made the final cut.

The Thing from Planet X scared me to death. My mom beat my brother’s ass for taking me to it. Of course that was a few years ago..... The Exorcist was really scary. I would give it number 1, Pyscho 2 and X three.

I think The Stand was pretty scary. I dreamed I was in the cornfield with the Walking Dude after reading it.

Nobody has mentioned the ultimate horror movie. Made in I believe 1932, “Dracula,” with Bela Lugosi. I saw it in about 1955 and several times since, and each time it makes my blood run cold. “The Stand,” starring Randall Flagg, is pretty scary as well.

While “The Exorcist” is a prime pick few people realize it was based on an actual event in the Wash. DC area and involved a young boy not a young girl. I saw a special on the History Channel once detailing the actual occurrence. They interviewed a priest who had knowledge of the event and was involved. Super creepy. Basic caveat, leave Ouija boards alone.

The Event Horizon is great, it’s like the Shining in space.
My faves is the Shining, The Ring, and Halloween. One movie that is good and I have trouble watching (disturbing) multiple times is “Session 9”.
