Sickest hockey goal of alltime......by a 9 year old.
NESN via yahoo ^ | 10/15/09

Oliver Wahlstrom's shootout attempt in the Boston Bruins "TD Bank Mini 1-on-1" competition begins as expected: Deliberate skating to the puck before picking up speed into the zone. But once he gets between the faceoff circles ... well, let's just say we wouldn't have been shocked to see him pull a rabbit out of his helmet before sawing a woman in half. This is hockey magic.

If you are looking back at your glory day at 19 you have problems alright.

Why the bad assumptions about this kid? His dad is a hockey star and probably put him in skates before he could walk. It is possible to be really good at something and still do your homework.

Not in the real title of the link (anymore, anyway). I thought the kid pulled his pants down and mooned the goalie before shooting or something worse.

Agree. These kids probably have been skating since they could walk.

I have Seen numerous ECHL(minor league) players, Pick up the puck like that. Those kids can use the stick almost like another hand.

That is a good trick but not an original. I have three kids in hockey and this move, which is aided by the fiber glass stick, is practiced by many kids during warm-ups. He is a little young for this trick but it is not a rarity for this age group. One kid on my son's team does the same trick but shoots the puck through his legs. The first time you see this shot you think wow but after a few hundred times seeing it over an over again it kind of loses its shine.

Good shot though for a kid this age.

Robbie Schremp was one of the first to do this move (AHL) so the actual move has been around for a while but the first time I have seen such a young player pull it off.

Total rockstar move, my favorite part is the goalie wondering what the heck just happened.

I thought it was going to be some freak accident, bouncing off a face kinda thing, but that kid did that on purpose. That was unbelievable.

Kids do this move all the time during warm-ups before practice starts. Half the kids on my son’s peewee team (age ten) do this. The trick is aided by a fiberglass stick since the blade is flexible. It’s almost impossible on a wooden stick. I forgot which NHL player did this move in the All-star game about 10 years ago but youth hockey players have been practicing this ever since.

I’ve seen kids on my sons hockey team trying this. One of them could get it off the ground and fling it, but he wasn’t very accurate.

It seems to be the standard trick to try while you’re standing around waiting for the coach to tell you what to do.

Ovechkin tried basically the same thing in the All-Star skills competition last season. Pretty sure he actually missed. It’s a neat trick.

Sickest hockey goal of alltime......by a 9 year old.

Huh? I don't understand the "sickest" part. Is this story newsworthy because the 9-year-old boy scored a goal despite the fact that he was ill? If so, what was his illness? The article didn't explain this very well.

>That has got to be the best goal I have ever seen!
>worth watching even if you don’t care a thing about hockey!!!

Indeed so. I don’t care about hokey and as I was watching I thought to myself, “what just happened? I see the stick twirl about its long axis, the kid do an change of direction on his skates, and the puck fly into the net... but how??”
